I have come on this forum many times defending Bobby Cox is being one of the all-time greats. The first name that everyone besides me and a few others mention as being the best somehow always ends up being Tony LaRussa. How come Bobby Cox always gets blasted as being a poor postseason manager and Tony Larussa always gets a pass?
Does not everyone realize the LaRussa only has 1title too?

Career Record

LaRussa 2214-1908 .537%
Cox 2092-1603 .566% Advantage COX

Division titles

LaRussa 10
Cox 15 advantage Cox

World Series Apearances

LaRussa 4
Cox 5 advantage Cox

World Series Wins

LaRussa 1
Cox 1 push

Its time for 1 of 2 things to happen. Either everyone needs to get off of Bobby Cox case about the post season. Or give LaRussa the same critizism the the Cox has had to endure for his failures.

Why does everyone give LaRussa the greatest manager in the game billing and treat Bobby Cox like he should not even be named in the same sentence?

One other thing of note. In my opionion Oakland had the best team all 3 times that they played in the World Series and this was not the case in all 5 of the Braves losses. It looks like its happening again this year.

I am a life-long Cardinal fan and I have hated Larussa since the day he got there.

He is a loser when it comes to the post season!

Im not pounding on Tony. I think he is a great manager. Lets be fair to both about the postseason.

I think Tony tends to burn out his bullpen by October and he's been swept last year and 1990. Been a long time since he's won the big one. Cards had an easy opponent in Round 1 and thats it.

Choptalk,

With all due respect......

You are the biggest homer of any gambler that I have ever seen. Braves this, Braves that, blah, blah blah...

What Cox had done with the Braves this season was simply amazing.

That team was filled with a bunch of rookies and has beens. That they were in contention this year is a testament to the man's intelligence.

Choptalk is the biggest homer ever. :lolBIG:

You can make the case that Tony LaRussa has had the best team in baseball at least 5 times and fallen short from winning it all.

At least Bobby Cox losses with lesser talant.
