A disturbing trend in the NFL for gamblers/books

Last week, the Falcons listed Vick as PROBABLE in their Friday injury report

He didn't play.

The league did not reprimand the Falcons (which pissed off the Patriots), so this week, the Patriots listed every injured player as "probable" - even Corey Dillon, who didn't play and Seymour, who didn't suit up.

I see this trend continuing for a weeks, it is going to be VERY hard to look at injury reports with any degree of confidence. Would ANYONE have taken the Pats +3 today if they had known that Dillon and Seymour wouldn't play? Would anyone have taken the Falcons -3 last week if Vick had been listed as doubtful?

Everything about the NFL has been disturbing lately, but yes, you have a very good point.

I dont know where you saw Seymour as "PROBABLE" as on Friday he was one of 14 Pats that were downgraded to "QUESTIONABLE". Dillon was active, but it was noted that the PATS already had the max of 7 guys listed as inactive.

Seymour was PROBABLE on Thursday. The Pats only had players listed as PROBABLE and nothing else.

I knew about this around noon on thursday when Bill first did it.

The local media on TV seemed to think it was amusing. I guess they dont gamble on sports.

Friday they downgraded 14 to Questionable though and Seymour was one of them. I am just saying that it is not like they left him probable until this afternoon or anything like that.

The problem is that I do not make my plays this afternoon. I KNOW which teams I might play by Monday/Tuesday, and I know which plays I WILL BE making by Wednesday and the only thing I am debating on Wednesday is whether I should:

1. wait for a better line
2. enter my wager
3. play more than I want to and hope for a chance at a middle or a scalp

I am just saying that this is something to be aware of - and I know that once a couple of teams start doing this and getting away with it, everyone else will do the same thing.

Point taken and btw I think Shanahan is the absolutly god awful worst at this.

If you do your homework, you'll have an edge over the masses that just bother to read the injury report.

Vick never practiced leading up to the NE game. You would have to assume at best he was questionable regardless of what you read in the injury report. When Pinnacle had Atl -1 and most other places had Atl -2½, you had to figure Vick was doubtful to play.

Earlier this week I read that a decision was not made on whether or not Seymour was going to suit up. Again, you have to assume this guy at best was questionable for the Denver game regardless of the injury report.

Seymour was mentioned in a report I found on Yahoo as very unlikely to play on Wednesday. They also said McGinest would be playing at 80% with almost no real use of one hand, but that was the best the Pats could do at the spot right now. They said Dillon was a big question mark and how whoever played in the secondary wasn't going to be known until Sunday morning, with some players likely not 100%. This was no big surprise. After all the Pats coaches know its better to put someone out there who is healthy instead of a starter who just can't get the job done.
