86 Mets is a great comparison. They were the best team all year long. They had to beat Houston in NLCS and scraped by and then faced Yanks arch rival Red Sox in series and were down again and got it done. Facing White Sox would be like facing Cubs rival but don't want to get too far ahead. We have to win tonight and go from there.

Well, that is the rumor that the mets were passing the bottle around. Becuase they thought it was over. If you watch the tape, a few of them look kinda blasted coming to the plate.

Sure seems like a team of destiny now...

Don't forget though, the Red Sox were also a team of detiny in 1986, the Dave Henderson homer off Donnie Moore just as dramatic...86 post season still the most amazing I ever saw.
