I seriously doubt he could even make an NFL roster at his size?

Yet he made it all the way to the NFL HOF...and is high on all the QB alltime rating lists....

Could Fran Tarkenton play today?

Listed at 6-0 , wasn't he more like 5-10?

The man is a great motivator, and one of sports alltime overachievers...

I see your point but comparing just about anyone from 30/40 years ago to today's bigger, faster and stronger athletes and there is a whole lot of them who couldn't compete. At least not at the level they used to do. Would Jim Thorpe be the greatest athlete of all time today or just a back up punter in the CFL league?

Isn't Drew Brees only 6' 0''? I think there's always room for a super smart guy as a QB, even if he's only 6 footish. Then again, didn't Tarkenton host "That's Incredible"? Maybe he wasn't so smart...

That's funny. My brother was a back-up CFL punter off and on in the mid 90's. He defintely ain't no Jim Thorpe.

How big is Flutie? He did okay at what 5' 8" or so? I have no idea but I know he's around the size. Tooran is right, there are some "heady" QB's that still play whom don't have great size or ability. Brian Griese for one down here in Tampa.

You beat me to it!!!! As good as Flutie was......Do you know how many EXACT Fran Tarkentons play college ball RIGHT now??? And We will be catchng a beer with them after their CFB career is over

HENCE.....Never let a 6' 4 " 225 QB from Michigan fall to the 190th pick in the draft!!!

And LOL LOL..........Please do not let your 6'4" 234 pound QB and Super Bowl winning QB leave your team Trent Dilfer........

Well for that matter most players from the 70's would not be so good in todays game...or even make it.

I was more speaking of his height in comparison to todays plays than size and strength...the more I look back at some of these legendary players the more I doubt many would be able to play...

Franco Harris for example, and one of my childhood hero's...I watch old clips and look at how skinny Franco was, he has like regular guy arms, and a somewhat angular body , especially for a back, and his name is synonymous with NFL history and greatness....Jack Lambert was 210 llbs...one of the meanest SOB's ever.

oh well I guess we just chalk it up to evolution .
