Think Houston might use a 4-man with Backe. Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt, Backe, Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt.

If Clemens goes in Games 1 and 4, is there really much chance of it going 7?

I was thinking the same thing Rocket for a possible 1-4-7, can you imagine he goes out like Bob Gibson in 1967 3-0, he already had a comparable season to Gibson, who was 28 yrs old in 1967...

I can't see Clemens being strong enough to get it done though...not 3 times.

what if he only goes 7 innings in games 1 and 4 . leaves with a decent lead.

pitch count was down..

you know he's getting the ball in game 7 ..

if he pitches in 1-4 you know he's going in game 7, no doubt...I think it may depend on where the series stands after 3 games.

You can BANK on this, if Clemens goes 7 innings in games 1 and 4, then they will BE NO game 7

Why wouldn't the rotation start with Petite since he pitched Monday, then Clemens as both are familiar with Sox? Use Oswalt at home in Game 3 next Tuesday then in Game 7 if necessary.

World Number One- That's a nice thought but Clemens doesn't have the durability to pitch on 3 days rest anymore. I would think Clemens would go in Game 1, Pettitte in Game 2, Oswalt in Game 3 and then Backe in Game 4.

big advantage too stros, csox having been off over a week

By the time the Series starts on Saturday, it will be 15 days since any member of the Sox bullpen has pitched. Arms may be fresh, but not sure about timing and location.

this is my biggest concern since i am leaning to the csox for the series. Astros have too little offense.

Didn't Clemons get Rocked by the Braves in first playoof appearance this year. White Sox Like the Fastball. I don't know is Clemons is 100% right now.
