Oct 19 Let the quarterback controversy begin. The Associated Press is reporting that Joey Harrington and Jeff Garcia shared reps with the first team in practice Wednesday and head coach Steve Mariucci wouldn't comment on a potential change at quarterback. This week's game against the Browns is the first one Garcia has been medically cleared for since injured his ankle and leg in the team's final preseason game. Harrington has thrown eight interceptions and four touchdowns in five games this season.
Views: There are still a couple of hurdles Garcia has to clear before he gets the starting job. He has to move around well in practice to prove his injuries issues are behind him and look effective enough to convince Mariucci to pull the trigger on the change. Even if Harrington is the starter this week, it would only be a matter of time before Garcia gets a chance to win the job.
