Some Jan 2 bowls cringing at the thought of Northwestern playing at their bowl.

Why? they put up points by the boat load...are very entertaining, Big bowl games sell their tix no matter who is playing in them...i hope they get the Citrus bowl...Big Ten #2 game.

they should finish 8-3 tied for 2nd in the big ten, thus Citrus bowl!

If they don't win out, I can see them playing on the Saints home field (Alamodome) playing the likes of Texas Tech.

Most of the Big 10 bowl spots are predetermined by standings aren't they not?

Yes but there is a provision that the Big 10 allows a bowl to take a lower team if it is a better matchup.

Well when it comes down to it most of the bowl spots are sort of mixed offerings anyways. Go to El Paso or San Antonio if you finish middle of the pack. Go to Orlando or Tampa if you are near the top. Maybe end up in Atlanta or Detroit near the bottom. Hard to split hairs over those spots.
