I have to say it seems to be far less a problem these days with sports betting being done post up. It makes me laugh how these f-ing lawmakers talk about how people run up debts because of credit card gambling. Did they ever stop and think to say, what if we make all gambling on credit illegal? If you send the money up front, its not your kid putting the money in the account and its not easy to run up thousands in credit card bills. Sure people still find a way to screw up this, but I think most gambling holes people get into would be limited greatly if it was a cash upfront business only.

You want to see people gambling with money they cant afford to lose -- visit any 7-11 and watch the low income stiffs buy state lottery tickets. These lotteries do a lot more damage than sports betting ever has.

Very true. The house I live in now, my parents owned and rented it out to a family. There was an agreement to buy. They couldn't pay and it turns out had filed for bankruptcy years earlier. I bought the house from my parents after that. When I moved in there were THOUSANDS of old lottery tickets in the garage.

What's more, I received comps in the mail from just about every riverboat casino within 3 hours of this place for the woman, still thinking she lived here. The crap they were giving away to this girl for free really blows my mind, and makes me wonder how much money this couple had just flushed down the toilet feeding the get rich quick dream.

Dante what kind of question is this? Should you club baby seals? No. Of course not. Seems too obvious.

or check out the people taking cash advances on their credit cards at 2-3am in a casino, paying like a 15%-35% service charge. in fact if our government
was really trying to help compulsive gamblers, they would pass a law that outlaws atms and cash advances in casinos.

Truer words were never spoken! This is also US government hypocrisy at it's worst! State lotteries are okay because the state gets a huge chunk out of that pool whereas they can not get their greedy hands on off-shore money, therefore money invested off-shore is an evil act and leads to crime and despair and needs to be obliterated... just ask that fine, upstanding, American statesman - John Kyl, he'll tell you the truth! :icon_conf

Postup is one of the best things that ever could happen for most gamblers. I admit in the past when I bet with locals I would bet occasionally way over my head.I'd scrape it up to pay always but with credit betting it's like betting with casino chips...you forget it's real cash you are losing.I absolutely love betting offshore now as I don't bet more than I can afford to lose.It makes me a disciplined bettor as I hate to lose money straight from my pocket.

disgusts me .. i pulled up to a 7/11 and waited as my 10 year old went in to get some milk. she got stuck behind some guy with a binder full of lotto tickets he was getting .

then he comes out and is wearing clothes that would make a homeless guy feel good....

hang on there buddy .. that 14 million to 1 shot will come thru eventually..

One of the reasons that credit bookmaking can be more lucrative than post up bookmaking. While post up shops don't have collection (later) problems like credit books may have, they experience much less chase betting which normally leads to big minus figures. Bet now pay later gambling has landed many a bettor in loan company waiting rooms.
