Texas is changing some minds.

The second-ranked Longhorns picked up two more first-place votes in The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday, gaining on No. 1 Southern California. USC is on top of the rankings for a record 27th straight poll. The Trojans received 55 first-place votes and 1,615 points. The Longhorns, coming off a 52-17 victory over previously unbeaten Texas Tech, received the remaining 10 first-place votes and 1,569 points in the media poll.

Pretty much Irrelevant, if neither loses they will play in the rose bowl and the winner decides it, so whoever is 1 or 2 doesn't matter, as long as they play each other..

It will matter if Va tech keeps winning and Texas starts to lose votes to Tech.Every week for the rest of the season Texas will lose ground to Tech in the computer polls becasue of the strengh of schedule. If Texas is not a head of Tech by a large amount of votes in the polls, they could get overtaken even if they remain #2 in the polls.Texas's worst nightmare is if Georgia/alabama winner and VA tech go undefeated, Texas will end up 4th in the computer polls. If that happens they better hope Ohio St and Texas Tech win out.

i say Texas has 1 more tough game before the Big 12 championship...and that will be against Texas A&M

I think they can battle them to the very end

First off - these 2 are SO far out in front of all others if they both win out they will play in the Rose Bowl on Jan 4 so who is #1 and who is #2 isn't that important

On Jan 4, though, the nation will see who is #1 and it is the team who was the consensus #1 LAST season, #1 in the writer's poll the year before and the team that would have MOPPED THE FIELD had their been a playoff system the year before. USC would have DESTROYED Ohio State had there been a playoff system in place the year Ohio State beat Miami

WITH a Playoff system - USC is the 3-time DEFENDING National Champs and this season would make #4

Think about this - USC will NOT have to leave the state of California the rest of the season for a game and only has to board a plane once - a short 75-90 minute flight to Oakland/San Fran for the game with Cal
