Local gas company here sent out letters where I can pay a standard rate the whole year they added on about 27% more then I normally pay.

So example Im paying $100 a month on a 12 month budget cycle I would now pay $127 a month instead.

But the gamble is at the end of the cycle they always pay you back or you have to pay them back depending on what the cost of gas actually was.

last year they owed me money

But the new plan is no one owes anybody at the end of the cycle so if gas prices rocket like some say Im locked in at $127. But if prices dont go up more then 27% this year I would lose since the company would not owe me a refund.

Anyone else being offered this or what I should do?

NEVER THOUGHT ID SEE THE DAY WHEN I COULD GAMBLE WITH THE GAS COMPANY:icon_conf

Wrigley - When I first read the topic I started to laugh, not at you, but thought in my mind "These books are doing all they do to get deposits"

This doesnt answer your question tony but I have been on the equalized payment plan for years and years and there has never been a year when I didnt overpay. some years the overpayment was so great that I paid nothing at all for the last two months of it.

The gas co I've been with works a bit different. You lock in a rate and then pay whatever the locked in rate was. No refund, no settling up. However the rate that was locked in they are renigging cause they don't know how high it will go. buttholes.

it is worth it in the winter but in the summer when you barely use gas you are getting a bad deal because you will use a lot of electricity for you air units then get charged the 127 as well.
