Hello to everyone in here. I've been reading the Rx.com for years, and I finally figured it was about time I registered and got in on all the fun.

Anyway, I just found out that Bowmans has been giving me their "sharp player" line. Their customer service reps actually tried to deny it too! They swore up and down that they only use one line for all their players.

Eventually I talked with an account manager (an American) and he explained how it worked. At least he was honest. In fact, he was quite helpful. Seemed like a nice guy.

Do you guys know of any other offshore books that use separate lines for who they consider "sharp" players?

In a way, I guess I can take it as a compliment that I'm finally considered a "sharp" player. But I was definitely pissed I couldn't pick up the Packers +10 at Bowmans. The "regular" player line on GB/CIN is 10, but for "sharps" it's 9 1/2. Oh well.

does bodog advertise that they do that? i doubt any books advertises. do they at least admit to it if you ask if they do? as long as they admit to it, i have no problem with it. i just hate when i get lied to (like the customer service clerk did at first)

Both those mentioned above do it for sure. You don't have to be real sharp either, trust me on that. I'm about as dumb as they come when betting football but even I get the sharper numbers from BoDog.

Who cares about Bowmans? There are many other places you can get the +10 on the Packers if you really want it. Who the hell really wants to bet into a line this sharp if you are really sharp anyway??

That's the exact same thing your cousin, or was it your nephew told me.

I wouldn't really consider them 'sharp' lines, more like 'regular' lines.

...and then Bowmans drops to the back of the line, getting very little of your action.

Although they do deal dual lines, make no mistake about it.............BOWMANS is still a top shelf sportsbook.

i guess the tone of my thread wasn't too clear from the beginning. i was mostly just upset that bowmans customer service reps tried to deny this to me when i asked them about it. that really pissed me off...

although in fairness to bowmans, once i got an account manager on the phone, he was completely honest. and like i said, he was very friendly and helpful.

bowmans doesn't have great lines to begin with, that's not the reason i use them for one of my outs. hell, i might have 1 or 2 plays with them all week (compared to 25-30 at pinnacle alone, on an average week)....

i keep bowmans as one of my top 6 or 7 outs because of they're reliability. i posted a thread the other day trying to find out what people thought about royal sports (if they're reliable or not).

i can't see the day ever coming that i would ever have to post a similar thread about bowmans. they're top-notch. now if they would just get with the program and start offering reduced vig! come on guys, it's 2005, wake up! :)

They have no reason to offer reduced vig. They have been in business for many years and they have a lot of squares from Europe betting into their lines. What you see is what you get. Many other better books out there!!!

you're right, they do have no reason to offer it........for now..........but trust me guys.....pinnacle is the wave of the future........a few years from now, that's going to be the industry standard.....the days of -110 are soon going to be obsolete. the companies that catch on now are going to be well-prepared for the future.

the rest, they're going to be behind the times. all those european squares, they'll catch on eventually and they're plays at bowmans will become fewer and farther betwee.

AGAIN, nothing against bowmans in any way. i've used them for years. they're just "old-school" nothing wrong with that.
