its a 30$ buy in 1 20$ rebuy

its the second week in a row I go into with the final 5 people as being chip leader or very close to the chip leader

I just can not seem to get first payouts are nice but I need either a good book playing shorthanded or some good tips

thanks balls....I am a tight agressive player....but I think with 4 players if I get a 10/Q suited on the button I either just bet it or fold....Is that a raising hand???on the button with 4 players?

I would never just call with that hand Dante. I am either going to raise with it or fold, mostly raise depending on what happens in front of me. Picking up 10-Q on the button at a 4 handed table (and as the chip leader) I feel you got to be more aggressive. You got to bully the table, especially the blinds. No chance am I going to let the BB come in for nothing in that spot. Go Raymer on them when you get the big stack late in a tournament. ;)

Just my two cents.

Dante, every hand you play at that point depends on so many more factors..your stack size, the others stack sizes, the payout %'s. how many hands till the low man is all-in? waiting on him increases your payout how much?
lets say its a big tourny and 4th pays $2500. 3 rd pays $4200.....your 3rd in chips with 8BB's and the guy in 4th has 2BB's left....id fold just about anything here unless it was heads up against the 4th plc guy ...your risking an extra $1700 on every hand you play.

Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by David Skylansky is almost totally dedicated to these type situations....find it cheap on Ebay

Harrington on Holdem

Both his books are great.

Vol #2 is a continuation of Vol #1 and deals with the short tables.
