Packed his car with as much as he could, he plans on staying if he can find a job. He's been talkin' about it for a while...I never thought he would do it. Let's just hope he finds a job.

He can always pedal that ass....LOL

Good to know he's out there. I'll add him to list of Guys I Need to See when I travel out there during 2006. I'll be out several times working on the campaign to pass the Legalize Marijuana initiative which is on the Nov 2006 ballot in NV.

I thought he went already and said it wasn't for him.

He changed his tune since he can't get a job here in Illy right now. We will see....

I can already see him hunkered down at the Stardust picking up an easy $100 a day from the schools of fish in the poker room. Best of luck Illini, you know my number give me a call sometime.

Once you get Vegas in your blood, it's hard not to return there again to give it another shot!

He said he spent a week or two around here, driving around areas outside of the Strip to get a feel for the town. Good move coming out now, just as winter is about to hit Illinois and we are basking in mid 70s weather. If it doesn't work out, he probably can book out of here just as it warms up again in April or May.

When we were there in December the cab driver who was taking us from the airport to the hotel told us that the windsheild wipers get stuck to the windshield because of lack of rain and excessive heat.

Is this true?

Heading to Boomtown is something that many, many people have done (myself included). It's a huge change, but sometimes it's the best thing you can do for yourself.

Two things happen here. Windshield wipers go bad all the time because the rubber dries out fast and car batteries die in 2 years without fail because of the A/C being on all the time during summer.

You all would be in shock about the lack of rain here. We just had a record winter of rain, all of 10 inches. I know a lot of major cities get that in a couple of days.

He quit his job a while back and had another one lined up. That job kinda fell through when he found out they lied about policies to get sales...he is a very ethical person, and would not go against his values.

He tried to get another job applying and interviewing everywhere with no luck. So he says, "I got no choice, I gotta do something."

Rent and all that he got that lined up before he left. And....he does not own very much stuff. The stuff he couldn't fit he left behind with family. He obviously left with the intention of staying, whereas last time was just a trip to see if he would like to live there.

If he can't find a job there, who knows what he'll do.

Jobs aren't hard to find at all, just a matter of finding something you like and making a decent salary doing it. He said where he lived is such a company town there aren't many opportunities. I think he will enjoy it here and I am sure until he finds something he can go play in the Stardust and pick up some cash with his patient poker style.

Good luck!!! I wouldn't move back to that shithole if someone paid me! Grew up in NYC never had any problems. Moved to Vegas (the good part out in "the lakes" ) and within 2 weeks my truck was stolen and someone got murdered around the corner from the house... If you are single and no one to answer to maybe, if you have a family NO WAY!!! I have a feeling he will regret it.

if you are willing to work hard, vegas can provide a very comfortable lifestyle.

as long as you stay out of the casinos.

Been there, done that, when younger ! There's always Fremont Street, that lovely area between the El Cortez and Eastern !

I remember meeting the guy, big guy as I recall ( if I have right person in mind) he should be able to survive doing some sort of construction, security, bouncing, or something until the right thing comes along, not sure what he does by choice.

He could try playing weak poker games ( if a decent poker player), get into dealing, drive a cab, bartender/back, waiter, busboy,be a pimp, etc. There's always SHIT retail work to keep you going in neutral for awhile.

Vegas is fun, but jobs are service-oriented, not much manufacturing type stuff.

Contacts from here might help get you in somewhere.

Good Luck, I did my time there, and wouldn't move back, especially since it's over-priced ( homes, rents) there now.

I'd go somewhere more peaceful like Colorado, Canada, or warmer ( than Illinois) like NC,SC, even Fla ( gotta be tons of construction there, if that's your bag).
