Mr Stern needs to get these start times more uniform. It seems that some of these NBA games will start a full 12 to 15 mins after the posted start time.

No other sport has this problem. Imagine if the NFL was the same way. You would have 1 game starting at 1:08, another at 1:14 etc.....

Its not that difficult

He is too busy maintaining a dress code to worry about things that actually affect the game itself

Do them earlier. If the game starts at 9:07 do the intros at 8:50. The Suns/Mavs game just started a full 20 mins after posted start time.

This even happens on games that are not televised nationally.

Iverson's posse couldn't make through the metal detectors, holding up the lines.

Tv

They wait for the 1st game to end before starting the next game on TNT. I would guess it is in the contract with TV network. Get there full money's worth out of the game.
Plus who is watching TNT after the game is over.:monsters-

It's done to give people enough time to call up and bet more on the second televised game after losing the first game at the buzzer.

And pretty soon, they'll also increase the length of halftime so there's enough time for a re-up WU transfer to go through between when the halftime starts and the second half tip.

you should only be concerned with the last 2 minutes not the 1st two.

Why do NBA games starts so much later than the posted start times?

Because they are waiting for final word from the Books on which side needs to play, and which needs to tank..real Diggstown stuff.

I'm kidding..I think??

But it does beg asking why the bump from 2PM to 2:15PM for NFL evening starts..is it for tv viewing not being lost/overlapped, or so that America can know where they stand definitively going into the late games, and/or time to place new wagers?
