Hello from Vegas

I've made it out to Vegas, and I finally feel recovered from that long drive. I plan on playing poker for 12 hours a day for the next two weeks, so that I can find out how much I can make per hour. I will probably get a job in a sportsbook or something after that, if the poker would be enough of a supplement to make a good living. I'm just gonna play it by ear and take it one day at a time. I do have one job offer back in Illinois, but I felt like I needed to come out here and see what happens. If the poker is as profitable as I hope, great. If it's not, then a sportsbook job won't be enough to live on. I guess I'll find out a lot in these next two weeks. I do know that anytime a player who has a clue plays in Vegas, they are playing with an advantage, because Vegas is full of fish, at the very low stakes. But I'm down $80 today from people drawing out on me. I'm about to head out and play some more tonight, so hopefully I'll still make money today. Anyway, you Vegas RX people can e-mail me, and we can meet up sometime. Just wanted to say hi.

Also, burn out will set in quick man, ask anyone that has doen this for a living. have something that will take your mind away from all the gaming. keep a clear head, and you will be fine.

Hey Dante. I'm staying at an Extended Stay Hotel, which is kind of like a small apartment. $45 a night, so not bad. Yeah, I'll be playing an awful lot of poker so that I can get an accurate figure for expected returns.

GET A JOB FIRST and in your spare time see how you do in low limit games.

Best of luck to you, post when and where you plan on hanging out with fair notice and I'll buy the drinks.

Goodluck to you man. I admire you for taking your shot no matter what the outcome is. I will be at the Bellagio December 3rd through the 8th, maybe we can hook up for a lunch or dinner (on me of course) and shoot the shit.

Hey BB, looking forward to meeting up with you. Burnout will come, but it comes in other things as well. I worked in insurance for 6 years, and I got so burned out doing that. Right now, I feel great about playing, and really enjoy it. I get tired of folding every hand, but winning pots is always fun.

I'm a little bit torn. I really would like to sell timeshares, and you can really make good money doing that. I know that appearance means a lot in terms of getting those jobs, and I am overweight. I think I may lay low and lose 40-50 pounds over the next six months, and it may improve my chances of landing a sweet job like that. But I don't know, maybe that's stupid. It's not like I'm terribly obese, but I am noticeably overweight.

Good luck man. About 20+ years ago I did the same thing. Btw, Place on Swenson and Flamingo rents by the week. I lived there about a month. Near UNLV, Paradise and Flamingo. Small furnished studio only a few miles from strip. Extended out by Boulder Hwy?? Pace your self and for a break take trip to Mt Charleston..my fav place in Vegas. Looking down on the smog is scary though.
