Currently, I would make the line:

USC -6

Adjustments to be made between now and the end of the regular season based on how the teams perform from here on out.

6-7 but Miami may be the best team in the country at the end of the regular season

I would make the line 7.5 for the sole purpose of getting equal action. Anything 7 or under and people will pound the crap out of USC and rightfully so. Texas has NO PRAYER (unfortunately) vs USC. Pete Carroll will have 5 weeks to prepare his team to stop vince young from running. He cannot throw accurately enough to keep up with USC who will get their points.

Yeah my line is purposely low, I know most will like USC in the game but not me. I have to disagree about the defense too, I see no way they will stop Texas in this game. They are suspect at best when they are playing any sort of offensive talent. The real question is what kind of total do you put on it? Probably the highest line for a championship game we've seen in a while....

Neutral field, USC 3- or so.

which it ISN'T

USC will be playing a "home game" on a field they are very familiar with - although the same can be said of Texass who ALSO played on this field last year

as history has shown - get Texass outside of the state and they are an entirely different team

USC -6ish will be the line and USC will cover for what USC is weak at - Texass isn't - and Texass can't expose USC weakness in pass D

Well we weren't guessing, the question was what would our line be. Obviously we could go look and see what some books are saying, the idea was to give your opinion if you have one. So again, to me on a neutral field I would hang USC 3-, that is my best guess at the number. To me I think USC is vulnerable, very vulnerable if they go up against a team that has a lot of talent. Hell they got lucky against the Irish, took the last play of the game to win that one.

Could be wrong, won't be the first time but I will gladly take Texas and the points.

Pat, they did get lucky against the Irish. In fact, in my mind, they lost that game. However, that was played in a very hostile setting for SC. The Rose Bowl will be a home game, and USC will be given every conceivable advantage

No question about that. Look I am not a Pac 10 hater or anything, I just think there is no way this team would be undefeated the last couple years if they played in some of the other top conferences week in and week out. They might be the cream of the crop in their conference but would find it much harder in other places to dominate like this. I mean look what the other undefeated team in the Pac 10 did today?

The question needs to be answered in two parts. And obviously if they were both undefeated.

Line Today

Line On December 20th

Line Today USC -13

Line on December 20th USC 9-11

I did not say they would win, just giving you the accurate line. Their is a substantial defensive difference on paper.

If you believe this then your line is off and should be atleast 7.5

Damn, I thought a lot of people on here would fall into the trap and start drinking the Vince Young kool-aid. Guess this place is full of some smart cappers. If this line is USC by anything less than a TD,pound the living hell out of it and then feel free to pound some more. USC will CRUSH this Texas team.

Pinny had a line of USC -6 in a theoretical Rose Bowl matchup a few days back.

I keep changing my line on this one by a point here and there, but here is what I think...

If I were a bookie, I'd set the line at -6 just because Pinnacle is offering it. You set it at -5.5 and you receive lopsided action on USC. USC is a bigtime public team so you'd get folks on -5.5 there, but you'd also get others playing the -5.5 for the middle. Texas action would be minimal at -5.5, although as a bookie, I'd want mostly USC action with a -6 or -6.5; just not lopsided on a -5.5.

On a handicapping level, I'd make this one a pick em.

USC's offense will score on anyone. Texas has one of the best defenses in college football but it's impossible to stop USC. However, Texas has enough defense to slow down USC.

Texas' offense is second only to USC this season. Their offensive line is the best in college football and USC has some holes on defense. They are loaded with devloping talent but just aren't at the elite level yet. Texas would find some room to run and Vince Young would have a typical Vince Young day.

Texas has a great shot at winning outright and this one would be a great championship game.

I see USC losing one much easier than Texas will. Cal and UCLA will put up great games against USC to end this season so USC better be prepared.

Texas 38
USC 35

Someone is winning by 3 or 4. Maybe less.

I wanted to take the Texas +6 that Pinny is offering but I think I'll wait and hopefully get a better line if this matchup actually happens.

First off - if you think USC will lose to Cal or UCLA - put down the funny brown cigarettes - they are affecting your judgment. i think texass has a better shot of losing to A&M or Colorado then USC does to Cal/UCLA

as i said before - the one weakness USC has (pass d) is one texass CAN'T expose and if they try USC will wipe the field with them

USC laying anything UNDER 7 is a late Xmas Gift
