Day 2
$4/$8 Limit Hold'em
10 hours
+ $253

Running total
21 hours
+ $376

I'm feeling very confident in my poker abilities. I know limit hold'em very well, and I have a lot of patience. I worked a boring, unrewarding job for 6 years, and when I left the company, my salary was $29,000. I am still out of my comfort zone when away from the tables, but life is what you make of it. I'm just very excited about the opportunity in front of me. The comfort will come, once I meet up with all of the RX people and make some other new friends as well. I do feel that I will burnout eventually at poker, but for right now, I'm ready to do the work, put in the time, and remain focused on my goals. I am a social person, and can usually make friends at the table. That helps, because without conversation, folding hand after hand is not only boring, it's frustrating. I appreciate the support and encouragement from all of you. It means a lot to know that you guys are pulling for me.

Outstanding sir... keep your overhead down by moving in a weekly place then maybe room with unlv student. You could go to student union, on Mary and Flamingo on the post up board. Its what I did and saved major bucks. Theres a weekly place behind stardust and on flamingo/swenson...(lived there for a month too.)RJ has all the ads. Stay away from downtown..major scum dwon there. The great Stu Ungar bought it close to dwontown. ABout losing wieight...it has to be the hardest town for that..great food at buffets and cheap. Hard to say no. I put on 15 lbs my first month and half there.

If he can learn to master video poker, he would be able to stay in some very nice hotels for free.......plus eat for free.

just curious...are you tipping the dealers?
I always tip $1 a hand, unless the pot is large. If it's a huge pot, I tip $2.

I know zero about video poker, but from what I hear, it's just like learning basic strategy for blackjack. Is that correct? Is the expected return worth being away from the poker tables?
I have played so far at the Stardust, Hilton, and Mandalay Bay. But I plan on playing everywhere, and mixing it up. I am staying at Extended Stay on Boulder Hwy, but after two weeks or so, I will be getting an apartment. I might have to call you to discuss what places are safe and unsafe.

I'm not sure where I'm going to live, but I'll be looking for a shithole, cheap apartment. As long as it's safe, I don't care. I will be eating a lot of salads for sure. Fresh fruit, salads, and water will get the job done. The main reason I'm fat is because of soda. I just have to change my habits and live one day at a time.

Do I have this correct? You're making roughly $18 per/hour ($376 for 21 hours) and you're tipping $30-60 per hour? And aren't there 9 other players at the table? If all the other players tip like you do, then you should be a dealer! And if not, then maybe you should learn something from them.

Not sure what you mean. I only tip when I win the hand. It's expected, so I do it.

I bet on college football, NFL teasers and an occasional straight wager, and fairly heavily on college basketball. The only thing I feel that I really have a strong advantage in is MVC basketball. I won't get to scout the teams at Bradley and ISU like usual, but I know the players and will monitor every game closely within that conference. I'm limited, but I do have my niche. I plan on posting my MVC plays along with my brother, poster Kornholio. He lives in the area, and will get to see some games, so our plays should be solid. But I'm no expert handicapper by any means, and I handicap like a scout would, not like a pro bettor.

I'll probably only throw $50 on the Pats tonight. I've become a Pats fan after watching them over these last few years, and I will enjoy watching the game tonight, win or lose. My sportsbetting has always been recreational, and it will continue to be for the immediate future.
I can't tell you what it means to have so many people rooting for me and supporting me. I know that I have a special opportunity that most people don't have, because I'm single and don't have any kids. But it does kind of feel like I'm doing this for RX nation as well as myself, and that motivates me even more. I apologize to anyone that thinks I'm trying to draw attention to myself. I'm just posting these threads because many people have asked me to.
