Phil Steele is having one of his finest seasons in college handicapping for Northcoast Sports;

On Saturday

5 Star Game of the Year N. Carolina (+5)(outright winner)
4 Star Iowa (-3) (should have...but sh't happens)
4 Star Navy (-11.5) (Midshipmen massacre)
4 Star Miami Fl (+6.5) (Outright blowout)
4 Star NC State (+13)(Outright winner...Wolfpack have covered 13 straight now as a road dog)
3 Star Utah (-2.5)(Blowout)
3 Star Vanderbilt (+19.5)(Commodores could have won it outright in regulation)

Say what you want about this guy, but he really does his homework, and puts out one of the finest college annuals (it's a telephone book) and Newsletters (Powersweep) on the newsstands today.
Yes....some of you could not get these lines as he is one of the few handicappers in the industry that cause the line to move immediately after his release, but Betmill holds the lines for 30 minutes until 11:35 after release. That is why most of Northcoast clients are loyal Millennium clients.

Wow! I get nervous just reading about this unholy alliance. Northcoast is having a good season (lately), but you wonder if some key picks might just come up losers down the stretch to make Phil's business partner happy. Not sure how a sportsbook can celebrate getting beat over the head by a large group of customers.:monsters-

There is nothing more that a quality offshore sportsbook appreciates more than to see a handicapper load up their clients with winners as I'm sure Phil did on Saturday. That leaves plenty of funds in client's accounts to bet the other 36 games on the schedule for the day, all of the TV games, the NBA action, NHL, and NFL on Sunday. Squares who seek touts for help are reliable losers when set on their own, and are not known for quality money management.

It's like a department store getting you in the store by advertising a discount on a DVD player below cost. While you're there you wind up buying 10 DVDs to use with your player at regular selling price.

Steele is honorable. I heard he has had some bad years lately, but i used to do well with him.

Thoroughly enjoy reading Phils CFB write-ups during the preseason and during the course of the year.

Would I purchase his selections?

This NOT a recruiting thread...it's just a hats off to quite a performance by a legitimate, hard working handicapper. Sportsbooks around the globe have tremendous respect for the guy's releases, and move the line accordingly.

Dave Cokin off to a solid college football season too: 23-6-1 on plays given out on the Sunday night Stardust show. This upcoming week's plays if anybody's interested:

- Virginia -4.5
East Carolina +11
UAB -7

I don't usually follow anyone, but Cokin's been on fire, 3-0 last week

Yup, his releases are great for middlers and scalpers if they get the lead on his selections!!

Not even his employees knows what he's releasing...Betmill gets the plays the same time as the clients at 11:00. I've also been told by a few people that he does not bet personally.

He doesn't bet personally? That's all I need to know about him; if HE isn't confident with his picks then neither should anyone else be.

Phil is a marketing genius, nothing more. His picks quite frankly, suck over the long haul. He is good at quoting on his comp line his "hot" plays whenever one of his dozens of catagories of plays hits an inevitable hot streak.

I don't like that he is probably getting a healthy agent cut from you, Millenium, so he is getting his players money whether he wins or loses. I think that is unethical, even for an "honest" capper like Steele.

do you hold these lines for all accounts or just for Phil Steel customers that sign up with you and give him as the reference? hwo do you know if somebody is a phil steele client or just value playing a line at your shop that you did not move while it is going crazy elesewhere? what is that 30 minute time window? is it always 10:00-10:30 am on Saturday for example?

Didnt Ppeter go like 5-25 playing Steels private plays in September?

I usually follow his dog of week play, but rest of his newsletter games are not any better than most regular posters here at RX.

Also, if somebody is going to tail Phils games to play them at Millenium for they usually have a bad # for phils games.

Ever since Millenium began advertising in his magazine, I have been skeptical putting any emphasis on his newsletter plays.

Yeah, I bought his "Marquee Private Play Hotline Season Pass" for $599 (this was before I saw the light on this guy). He started off those plays in August and September ice cold, like about 5-20. Of course, if you listen to his tape now, he won't use that in his record, he will only say he has hit 66% on the marquee plays in last 7 years, or something like that.

Millenium Sportsbook:

I think it is important to be totally honest with the forums. I am very familiar with Northcoast Sports, Phil Steele, and his Executive Club service and I have an account with Millenium and do recommend it for a variety of reasons not to mention freezing the line from 11:00 a.m. EST to 11:35 a.m. EST for those that opened accounts and mentioned Northcoast or are Power Sweep subscribers plus the teasers odds cannot go without being mentioned.

But that being said, the College Late Phones are what you are mentioning in this thread, but his Totals Club, Small College Plays, and Marquee Private Plays have not been particular stellar this year. The first two are star rated plays as well while the latter is normally a Top Opinion. In the NFL, Phil has even stated in his newsletter that he is no longer making the final selections but his staff is. I have confirmed that with Northcoast. His NFL year to date record is mediocre at best. No question, Phil puts out a quality annual and does a lot of work for his selections, but overall, if you take all his plays in totality, he is right around the mendoza line at best.

This is to take nothing away from Millenium, but I feel the forums are entitled to the whole story regarding Northcoast Sports. Nothing personal whatsoever, just feel I have a responsibility to our members, posters, and viewers to set the record straight. Do appreciate Millenium holding the line and the teaser odds and even full track odds on big racing days.

Excellent post OMT.

Agreed Phils annual is top shelf stuff, but his plays are nothing better than what posters can get free from this site.

I have been a subscriber to power sweep for a decade.

You're kidding right? It is bad enough when books come on and give "advise" on who is betting wehat and how to getthe most value from how you bet. Now books are touting touts?

I have seen it all now.

As for this little gem..."That leaves plenty of funds in client's accounts to bet the other 36 games on the schedule for the day, all of the TV games, the NBA action, NHL, and NFL on Sunday. Squares who seek touts for help are reliable losers when set on their own, and are not known for quality money management."
Um isn't the money they won that is still in those accounts yours? Or at least could have been if they lost and you were lopsided (which most books are). That has to be one of the most assinine comments I have ever heard from anyone let alone a sportsbook.

What is the difference if they sign up with 1000 and lose it without winning a dime (on thier own as you point out), or they sign up with 1000 WIN 10000 on Phil Steele's picks, and lose it back? Especially if they are winning on games that have been steamed to death and you are completely lopsided on (due to his clients apparently).

Your logic is more than circular, it is a figure 8.

But not unexpected I guess. Forums are supposed to be about helping gamblers, nit spreading bullshit and false statements, especially when the bullshit is coming from a sportsbook.

This is why Touts always have 2-3 different packages, so they can hype the one that is doing well ...

""My GOW plays are 60% over last two seasons""

Meanwhile the rest of the plays are at 38% .
