Everyone who has been on this forum for a while talks about the 3 most important things when wagering on a everyday basis... 1) play at a reduced vig... 2) get bonuses.... 3) shop for lines....
Here is an example how you can ue all 3 to incresase your yearly profits.
(Playing 5 sports full time gets me to 2,500 wagers a year with win pct estimate 54% based $100 a unit/play)
1) if you average -108 juice on on 1,150 plays a year as compared to -110 you save.....$ 2,300 reduced juice
2) sign up or re-up at 10 books at 10% sign up bonus on $10,000 deposited you save.....$ 1,000 in bonuses
3) if 1 % pct of your losses (12 yearly losses) become wins(6) or pushes(6) due to line shopping you save....$ 1,896 by line shopping
A 54% bettor betting at -110 odds over 2,500 yearly plays at $110 a play wins...... $ 8,500
By just adding these 3 simple things into your arsenal your profit increases from $ 8,500 to $ 13,696 over a 60% YEARLY INCREASE.

This is a very conservative and basic way to look at how IMPORTANT these 3 SIMPLE things can help you increase your bottom line, but one must do to be a overall yearly winner.

Good Post

I would like to add number 4, play in contests sponsered by forums like the Rx. It only takes about 10 minutes a week and can be well worth the time. Just ask Fishy.

not trying to sound like a know it all because I am not. Always learning but every time the grind of daily handicapping, shopping, etc gets me down I know that the little things I do wil hopefully add up at the end of the year. I'm sure someone could have explained better but hopefully my point gets across(small steps eventually add up)

great post iceman!

i still can't believe how many guys are still using only 2 or 3 outs, thinking that's what people mean by "shopping for lines"

it's so easy to just keep 50-75 betting units in neteller, while utilizing 7 our 8 outs (or more)....and just transfer the amount you need to bet to each particular book each day (unless you still have enough $$$ left over from the previous day/week of betting at that particular out)

then, once your free neteller withdrawal comes along (either once a month, or every 10 days, etc) just cash out (withdraw) your ENTIRE balance and put it all back into neteller and start over again...

by keeping the majority of your betting units at neteller (instead of spread out over all of your different outs) it's easier to utilize more outs.

anyway, excellent post!

Yes, love the FREE ones, as well as the paid entry contests.

However, 20 years from now, I may be down $21,900 or more in the JMAN NFL PICK-4 contests at the rate Im going.

asked a similar queation a few weeks ago and got no response. Was interested in how many "units" people kept in each book. So you go in and out of neteller all day long or when you see and opening than cash out alot. I try to keep 15 units or so in each book but have been looking for a different way of approaching it.

ha, fishead, i'm already down 0-5 in the NBA best bet thread this year!!!

at this rate, again i'm not very good with math, but i think i'll end up 0-82! :)

anyway, we're getting off-topic with this thread....

another good addition to this might be to recommend EACH and EVERY single bettor out there add Pinnacle to their out 'portfolio' (if they haven't already)

they are far and away the most important out in the offshore world (would anyone disagree?)

all the other sportsbooks can be debated to a certain extent, but Pinnacle is the one and only no-brainer. it's the equivelant of a "core-holding" or "core-position" in a stocks portfolio.

it can be confusing for a newbie trying to figure out which outs to use first as they try to build up their offshore portfolio...but i think we can all agree that Pinnacle is the first choice.

iceman, when i first started out a few years ago...i tried keeping about 10 betting units in each of my outs (i used 5 back then)....

but i soon realized that wasn't an optimal approach...

with 5 outs and a small long-term winning advantage, it's very easy to lose money at 2 of them and win at 3...or lose at 3 and win BIG at 2...or win at 4, lose at 1...or as what happened 1x....i lost everything at 4 of my outs and won unbelievable HUGE at 1...

anything can happen short-term...but more importantly...

i didn't use each book equally as much...some books (pinnacle) i would have 75% of my plays at...some like wsex, canbet, bowmans, etc. i might only have a couple plays a week...

so by keeping an X number of betting units at a book long-term, that's just a large chunk of your bankroll being wasted....

so after realizing this, i got in the habit of utilizing each and every free withdrawal i was offered and cashing out each and every sportsbook and putting it all in neteller.

then after i checked my 8 outs or so the next day, i would see how many plays i had at each book, and just deposit what i needed at each for the day....

often times, i would go 7-10 days or more without having any plays at bowmans for example and i would keep a $0 balance the entire time...

conversly, during losing streaks, i was often adding money to pinnacle every single day for days on end.

i would recommend at least 50 units in neteller to start, 7 or 8 outs, and utilize every free withdrawal and cash out as much as possible...but you can also cash out any time you want/need to. an extra withdrawal only costs $15 or so (more than paid for by your initial sign-up bonuses)

One other thing. $5,196 profit doesn't seem like alot but I used an example with a $10,000 banroll and 1% of br bet. This obviously beccomes much greater when you increase the numbers but I it still works out to an additional 60% increase in your yearly profits.

Thanks Christian as always your post's are always very well written and easy to understand. My advice to anyone that is going to do this on a daily basis(wager) is to do it right, using every trick or don't do it all.
