Another in a long line of running Qbs, Vince Young's stock is never going to be any higher than it is right now.... can he play QB in the NFL?

He has decided to stay put and will remain at Texas, announced today.

Needs to change his throwing motion somewhat but the kid is smart and I rarely see him make a mistake so I think he has a chance in the NFL. He is no Michael Bishop

Definite NFL QB. 1st round draft choice.

Anyone that says otherwise needs their head examined.

This guy has the mobility of Michael Vick with a more accurate throw.

He is also 6'5" 230 pounds which is defininte NFL size.

He'll be a high draft pick.

He's gonna go top 3. He's freakishly athletic and that's all that matters. SOmeone will try to mold him into a solid QB...he's got all the tools.

He has the culpepper mold but faster. He'll be fine in the nfl.

Only time will tell if he can be successful or not...but he is a lock to be a top 5 pick.

I think he needs to come out NOW though...if ever there was a case where a player's stock has peaked it is Vince Young.

I couldn't agree more...although he would really have to have a disasterous season next year to fall out of the Top 10 regardless of how his team does. At 6'5" and his athletic ability, teams have seen what Michael Vick brings in the form of exposure and excitement to their franchise. Any of the teams with the 5 worst records in football could use that kind of boost in morale.

....

If he keeps improving I think so. Young's first couple of years I wasn't impressed with his throwing ability. I think he is getting better and better though.

peaked implying that it can only go down from here? I seriously doubt his stock will drop. I know Vince doesn't want to play anything but quarterback, and I think he would stand a much better chance at the next level if he spent another year working on it. He might have better luck changing his throwing motion now that he has somewhat learned how to run an offense.

Look at the quarterback situation in the N.F.L. Is Vince Young better than, lets say Charlie Batch? Vinny T.? Alex Smith? You could go on and on. The current Q.B. situation in the N.F.L. stinks. Of course Batch and Vinny would not be starting if injuries weren't considered, but Vince Young would still be the best that some teams could put out there right now, injuries not withstanding.

It's the argument for anyone that's projected as a top draft pick, they can't move up in the draft so why stay?

Here's why - His ability may not change his "stock" at the moment, or his position in the draft, but it could very well affect his staying power in the league. Since the stock in the draft argument is purely monetary, it's entirely valid to extend the argument to staying power - which arguably is the more profitable but less predictable of the two.

There are some parts of his QB game that could use a LOT of work still, and I think another year in college gives him a chance to work out some fundamentals and MOST importantly put them into practice in game situations that he's already comfortable with.

Plus I'm a Texas alum and as nice a guy as Nordgren is....

He will get drafted high to be sure but he ain't no Culpepper or Palmer, think he'll be closer to Harrington and David Carr and won't be shocked if he's not even that good.

He will put up numbers very similar to Michael Vick---run for 70 yds, throw for 160 yds, 1 rushing td, 1 passing td, 1 int.

He will win for the right team, one that values ball control and defense.

vince young will never be a legitimate pro qb. he can run well, but he isn't as elusive as vick. he just can't throw. yes, he has put up better passing stats this year but it doesn't change the fact that the guy can't throw at 15 yard out. he can't read a defense (it's not like he will get to play baylor much at the next level) and he struggles with consistency. is he a freak. no doubt about it, but unless he changes his mechanics and gets good coaching, he will not succeed at the next level as a qb. and he has publicly stated that this year he scrapped everything they tried to teach him on mechanics because he is uncomfortable that way. so essentially, while the results are there, he actually regressed as a qb this year (which is a big reason if i was advising him i'd tell him he's an idiot if he doesn't go pro). he throws sidearm not taking advantage of his height and he is inaccurate. if he is committed to fixing that, he could be a qb. but he isn't. he thinks he's better than he is and will fail miserably at the next level until he realizes that. despite what michael vick brings, there are dozens of comparibles in the nfl to young who never made it. kordell stewart is a great example. i would be sick if my nfl team drafted vince young.
