I got my collection two years ago from Amazon.com . Being a Civil War Buff I have watched it many times over.
Really? Is it that entertaining? Really like driving through Concord and Lexington Mass,
just a few reasons I love this state.

You have the wrong war buddy...Concord and Lexington was the American Revolution. Only one battle fought in the north at Gettysburg, and that's as far north as it got! Being from Pa....Gettysburgh is a place to visit if indeed you're a history scholar.

PS: I think Ken Burns passed away about a month or so ago

That was Shelby Foote, one of the main historians on the series..

Ken Burns still alive and well

Just to set the record straight..

Tuesday Nov. 8th.. CBS News story.

Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed documentarian Ken Burns on Comedy Central's new show "The Colbert Report." In honor of the occasion, Colbert decided to make a documentary – about Stephen Colbert interviewing documentarian Ken Burns on Comedy Central's new show "The Colbert Report." Which he then showed during the interview Monday November 3rd. It's all very confusing, but that doesn't make it any less funny.

this was a great work, i also enjoyed his 9 part series on baseball..

Shelby Foote interviewed Nathan Beford Forrest's great grandaughter and commented to her that the civil war produced 2 geniuses.. Abraham Lincoln and your great grandfather... She kindly commented (and she was in her 80's), "son we dont think to much of Mr. Lincoln around here"... this was in memphis -- in the 80's..

shelby foote was great to listen too..

Went to gettysburg back in June, Truely a moving expereince, i have studied all about the battle for years and especialyl this summer after going there, now i have to go back and see it with a real learned mind. It was amazing what took place there.

It should have never happened. Lee should have won the battle in the second day. Three things contributed to Lee's defeat at Gettysburg...(1)Jeb Stuart not showing up on time with the calvary, (2) the absence of Stonewall Jackson (killed previously) (3) and James Longstreet's failure to follow orders and seize the upper ground on Big Round Top as he was instructed by Lee. Ironically, Longstreet could never make up his mind, as after the war he became very good friends with Grant, and Grant appointed him to a ministership for the country.
It's a great trip- Spend a day at Hershey Park first then off to Gettyburg a few miles down the road.

The casualtys in the Civil were unreal. Lots of battles were as many died in one day vs total now in Iraq. Great series. History Channel and other still gave great shows about it.

23,000 casualties/wounded at Gettysburg alone! Keep in mind that if you were wounded you probably became a casuality later, or at least lost a limb. On the field surgery at that time was primitive to say the least.

Brother Vs. Brother...Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of President Lincoln, lost 4 close family members during the war who were fighting for the SOUTH!

Actually saw a real good show called battlefield detectives which says that the Confederacy lost the battle on the 1st day, they lost too many men for what they seemingly gained...it was close on the 2nd day, but had they had proper reinforcements and less losses on the 1st day, it would have likely been different. Visiting Little Round Top is AMAZING
