Nine has a Tuesday promo - nickle juice on football.

So just before kickoff of the Tuesday game I make a bet online. Didn't get nickle juice. Regular dime juice.

I call, get switched to the Wagering Dept, and explain it to the lady on duty.
She had to leave for a few minutes to get counsel, from her supervisor, I guess.

Comes back, tells me that if a game is on 3 or 7 (this one was on 7) the promo does not apply.

Huh? I thought she was going to say it doesn't apply for Tuesday games, which would have made sense, tho I saw no such disclaimer in the Tue promo pitch.

I told her that what she was saying didn't make much sense, that it would apply only to their Friday free half point promo, not reduced juice. But she kept repeating the line her super gave her about 3 and 7.

I seem to have misplaced or lost in cyberspace Mason's email, so I decided to take my jeremiad here. I'm not boohooing too much, it wasn't a big bet. But a book gotta broadcast its messages loud and clear, with any fine print in boldface.

That is hilarious. I can see not offering a free half point on 3 or 7, but no reduced juice? :lolBIG:

My bet, Marshall, came from behind to cover in OT (or so I heard, hate to admit I fell asleep during the game) so my complaint is more or less moot.

Do appreciate Jim Mason getting back on the matter. Nine.com is a good book, they still have some problems training their cs people, but they try. Good promos, and now and then a line that's not one of those infamous Costa Rica clones.

Almost all good books have a few negative issues. After leaving here I'll do a post on some bad stuff from the "good" Pinnacle.

Also appreciate Wil The Moderator getting involved. Not just caveat emptor anymore. Gotta have a site like this if you send $$ offshore. Wish we still had the book foot contests, but I ain't gonna do 75 posts at the other site just to get in it.

Tho a writer who gives his stuff away gratis sort of sets a value on his work I will demonstrate respect by sometime later (after a long snooze, and figuring the weekend games) starting a thread tht should be of interest to horse players. I was once a correspondent for the old Racing Action, wrote for handicapping pubs like American Turf Monthly and Cramer-Olmstead, lot of stuff on horse racing and betting for general interest mags, worked for a track, and knew (or knew) many people in the racing industry. (And if rx wants an occasional freelance piece, hey I'm available!)
