Just don't have the time, resources and knowledege to be a consistent winner on my own, After finally admitting that, I have been following others who have the TIME to handicapp. Firm beleiver in hard work pays off and not sure handicapping 30-60 mins a day is hard work, so I follow people in other sports. I would estimate that 20% of my plays are from my own "numbers and ideas". 80% from others. Found this to be the best for me. What pct of your picks come solely from yourself?

A rough estimation would be that 98.9% of my selections are my own.

I always make the final decision to pull trigger but I don't feel that I desevre to win by just a quick look of the teams and making a line. I do spend alot of time in the NFL(make my own numbers) and usually (not this year, so far) it pays off, especially confidence wise.

A really ROUGH estimation would be that 97.8673% of my plays are not my own.

I do not try to handicap because I simply cannot pick winners. I am Joe Public who doesn't call EVERYONE ELSE Joe Public.

I scalp, I middle, I play 2nd halfs with inflated numbers, I follow people shamelessly and I never have a LOCK.

... and I have made a profit every week the last 6 weeks - in the past 9 weeks, I have made a profit every week except 2.

how much time would you say you spend a day handicapping a daily sport (NHL, NBA)?

Read opinions from others and will maybe take a closer look at a game that somebody likes and if I like it, I'll play it. I never blindly folow somebody else's pick.

Oh my gosh........almost constantly really, when online(which is usually a 7-12 hours a day).

Between reading logs/stats, articles, and studying line movements.

Cincy, I am somewhat similar, and somewhat not. I am very contrarian, and it hurts me sometimes. I like to follow the conservative cappers here, and try to scalp enough to turn the vig in my favor. I handicap some stuff, and have done well in baseball and the NFL. I'd say 100% of my hockey, basketball, soccer, and tennis bets are not my own. Foots and Baseball is about a 50/50 split. I always play under 40 or less in college, and that counts for something.

than if you didn't have the time because of other obligations (my case job) would you attempt to do this, or follow others, or not even attempt it.

The amount of games bet and amount of money wagered would be in some realistic proportion to the time that I personally could spend studying.

I guess if I was so busy that I couldn't spend anytime analyzing a certain game, that I could see myself wagering the games of somebody that I respect very, very highly.

Don't know, hope to never really be in that position.

I'm beginning to realize handicapping in some sports is way over rated.
agree to an extent. However you come up with "picking winners" , that to me is still the most important thing(excluding middling, scalping, etc). We all talk fancy about money management and the likes but you better be in 54 % range for this to be worth it. If your not betting more winners than losers than you need to find a way quickly or quit!!!

I never bet anybody's selections but my own; that goes for horses as well as football.
nothing wrong with this ( I do feel so much more confident with my own plays) but what makes you feel you know more than the next guy, Not a criticism just a question. If your not putting the necessary time (hours a day) I can't beleive that you can have a better feel than people that do put in this time.

If I go down in flames on my own picks, while ignoring others' winners, I can live with that. If I have a winner but I bet someone else's pick and lose instead of win then it wrecks me psychologically. Besides, I'm kicking butt so far this year in football.
