What does the TV deal with FOX for the 2006-07 season entail?

FOX Sports and the BCS reached an exclusive four-year agreement covering all media distribution and sponsorship rights for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl and Nokia Sugar Bowl from 2007 through 2010, and a new, stand-alone, BCS National Championship Game from 2007 through 2009. In addition to telecast rights, the contract also covers national radio rights; Internet rights; all sponsorship rights, including naming rights, signage and virtual signage opportunities and in-game enhancements; ancillary programming on FOX and/or FSN; and a joint venture (FOX, BCS and Bowls) to identify and exploit merchandising opportunities.

NEW YORK Fox Sports has won the rights to televise three of the four NCAA College Bowl Championship Series games—the Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl and Fiesta Bowl—for four years beginning in 2007.

Those games currently air on ABC, which earlier won its TV rights renewal to televise the Rose Bowl through 2014. The BCS comprises the six biggest college football conferences, as well as Notre Dame.

<!--endclickprintexclude-->ABC, which reportedly locked up the rights to televise the Rose Bowl by paying an average of $30 million per year, or $240 million over the eight years of the new contract, reportedly bid $52.5 million per year in an attempt to renew its rights for the Sugar, Orange and Fiesta Bowls, significantly less than the $73.5 million it is paying under the current contract. Fox then bid $60 million per year to win the rights.

Under the new TV rights contract, unveiled today, Fox will televise the three bowl games, including the BCS Championship game, from 2007 through 2009. In 2010, Fox will air two bowl games, with the championship game of the Rose Bowl airing on ABC.

FOX has their own unique way of presenting sports...they have dominated NBC in the NASCAR telecasts, to the point, NBC doesn't want to compete anymore.

Only problem Fox has is they don't have a contract with any of the major conferences during the regular season I dont belive. CBS, ABC and ESPN have them locked up and Notre Dame home games will be on NBC thru 2010.

Be fun to see how Fox would handle College football on a weekly bases Im sure there goal is to go after a big conference tv rights in the near future.

The 2nd half of the NASCAR season is worth less because of football and now with NBC getting the NFL Sunday night package for next season they decided NASCAR was not worth bidding on this time.

Look for ESPN to get the rights to the 2nd half of the Nascar season but rumors also have been saying they are going to make a bid at the whole NASCAR season as well.

The only race they alternate each is the Daytona 500. I dont think Fox has ever covered the second half of the NASCAR season.

Love to see ESPN get the whole season package

Yes that is what I mean, they alternate and split the season, seemed like a weird arraingement to me all along...nobody did it like ESPN , FOX has put its own unique stamp on it, NBC doesn't compare...ESPN was the best.
