why do you think kickers are so great for a few years then get cut? gary anderson, morton anderson, mike lansford, john carney come to mind. is it that they lose leg speed? a mental thing? or just wear out their welcome? usally they hook up with other teams and do pretty well.

most NFL kickers stay in the league for 10 + years

Yeah, I was gonna say...Gary and Morten Anderson are two of the best kickers in NFL history. They didn't "lose it" even when their leg strength dwindled. They were still great in the twilight of their careers.

I'll bet you some teams wish they were still around.

personally i believe no matter how good you are i believe if you miss one crutial kick your team starts to feel a little negative about you. gary anderson against atlanta in the nfc championship game or norwood in the super bowl. at that point it is easier to get rid of the kicker down the road even if they still have some ability.
