Do you make a line for every bet you make?

I do follow guys on alot of my picks but the ones I do bet from my own opinion I make a line for and than compare to real spread. I do use some other intangiables when deciding to who I'm going to bet, but for the most part it is based all on my line vs the real line. This is also why I follow some people in sports I don't handicapp (NBA,CBB) I dont put in the neccessary time( I am a HUGE numbers and statistics guy) to come up with ratings to make my own line.

I do in MLB and NCAAF.

In NFL, NBA, and NHL I look more at situational stuff and then look at the line. I have an idea where I think the line should be but don't actually bet on the difference between my line and the actual line like in MLB and NCAAF.

No, not usually. I look at the line and then I decide whether it would be an good play or not.

So in the end, I guess I do end up making a "line", but not until after I see THE line.

Yes, I do but only for college hoops totals. I'm a numbers guy, so I make up my own line, compare to the available line and based on variance move the units up and down.

For horse matchups it's more of assessing value in the line after looking at what's available.

I think making a line at least gives you a starting point to deal with. I would be going back and forth on who to bet without a line to compare.

Win +300
Lose-1000

Most people bet the lose with heavy chalk and have been cleaning up in the NBA right now.

I do that, as well. I don't make a line for everything, though ! Sometimes I bet for a middle, scalp, bet on predicted line moves, play correlations, follow, etc.

SIA plus money bets win often, for example !

I can't imagine anyone betting just on feel and not aking a line can be a "winning" bettor. No way, not over the long haul.

Sometimes you don't need your own line, I know what half- points are worth and which middles are profitable, and can judge which way a line will likely move.
