Why is the racist thread allowed to stay in the football forum?

While few would agree with this poster, I'm inclined to believe that readers of these forums have the intelligence to decide for themselves whether to read it or not, after getting the general drift.

If someone at Rx is going to be a censor, who will it be? What is his/her biases? What areas are going to be censored, and what are not? As of today, expressing racist views is still legal in the U.S. Just like expressing any other view that is not proscribed by law is legitimate. (But not of course falsely yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre.)

Some posters on this forum use the word "fuck," and other of the famous four-letter words. Some, even some bettors, may be offended by this phraseology. Want to censor them, because some may be offended? Again, it's not illegal to use such terms. And again, who shall be the Big Censor?

I don't read the political forum, but supposed someone there called Bush a warmongering idiot. (And given the diversity of views in any online forum, someone probably did.) Should that be censored because it may be contrued as not being patriotic, and supportive of the soldiers risking their lives in Iraq?

If the poster advocated some sort of illegal action, that would be a whole 'nother ballgame. But, like most others on these boards, he simply engaged in a "letting off steam" rant. If he came off as a fool, well, I'm sure we all have seemed a bit foolish in some of our rants.

I'm a little surprised that any regular user of this forum would suggest censorship. If you want to pay attention to the racist poster, write a stinging rebuttal. We can make up our own minds, thanks a lot!

Sorry but I agree. Black quarterbacks historically have been good runners with decent pocket presence but could never really throw the ball.

I guess alot of people had Philly last night.

I had Philly, and the fucking Under, but that's not the point. If McNabb audibled the dumbest play thus far in this NFL season, than he is a Black Fool. And if Andy Reid called the play, he is a White Jackass.

Oh yeah, Herm Edwards is one of the better coaches in the NFL. Even Lombardi couldn't do anything with that MASH unit knows as the Jets. But that White Hackwriter out of Vegas, whatshizname, had the nerve to call Edwards the worst coach in the NFL a few weeks back. Secret racism, I imagine.

Half the teams in the NFL would like to have a healthy McNabb. But this play was befitting that warmongering idiot in the White House.

I don't think it's racism so much as a statistical observation. Can you name a single Black quarterback that has thrown the ball well consistantly?

Could just be a coincidence.

Could also be that your sample size is less than 10!!! tulsa

But there ARE black quarterbacks. NFL teams are not engaged in Affirmative Action. Maybe in the exec suites, but not on the field. Those black QBs in the NFL are there because they beat out their white competition.

I always thought that a McNabb who did not run would not be anywhere near as effective as one who did. But then, it's not really about passing, but about winning. If a qb can win games running more and passing less (a la Vick) that's all they want. Of course, untill one wins a Super Bowl with legs as well as arm the jury will remain out.

But if you're into statistics, how many black field goal kickers have there been in the NFL? Or even in college? (I recall Roby, but I think he was a punter, no?) And one would also think they'd be a lot more Hispanic kickers, given the great popularity of soccer in Latino countries. Cortez hangs on the fringes, a backup.
