Probably spent more summer afternoons at "The Friendly Confines" those seasons than I did any years before or after. Sixty cents general unreserved first come first served grandstand admission for kids 12 and under.
Here is the amazing thing about this achievement by Banks. The Cubs were a "second division" club [ 6th both years] with losing records both years. In the old 8 team leagues back then, the top 4 teams were called first division and the bottom 4 second. Gave those in the middle of the pack something to shoot for.
A player who plays for losing teams will never get this recognition ever again. This record will NEVER be broken.
