Has anyone hear ever hit a big one upwards over $5,000. I have hit a few were I cleared over a $1,000 and for some reason that felt better than winning $1,500 on sat/sun betting sports. It must be the instant gratification

Been to the tracks maybe 2-3 times in my life. the other day, a buddy and I went. We were on our way out the door, and decided to put $2 on some long shot, 60-1 or something. What ever it was it paid like $228.

Not a lot of money, but nice hit for $2.

My greatest day was a breeders cup day about 10 years ago. I was an assistant editor with sportseye and wrote a daily pick section. Out of the 7 races i wrote about i my horse won all but one. Was only a $20 bettor but had $200 wps on Barathea who paid like $28.

Thought i was on the top off the world, Mr. big shit!!Won $8000 that weekend.. Lost it all by the following week.:hump:

personally never cashed a big one, but when I worked as a teller in a sportsbook, I sure wrote a lot of them. Best one was an old lady and her son went in on a pick 6 @ Santa Anita; they only played like a $50 ticket, and it came in. It paid over $200k, she was more than thrilled...toked us pretty big too.

Then there was this POS who would only play big superfectas, and would consistently hit for over $20k. Would never leave a dime....still get mad when I think of that douche

I think i will follow. I will be in New York next week for Thanksgiving and will be spnding Friday night at Otb. I don't know about everybody else but betting the horses at home is not the same as betting at he track otb...

Vegasisdead,

Is Sportseye still around? I believe they had a "Col. Joe Challmes" or something like that; also Sportsform if I remember correctly.

i hit some fluke TRI at an off shore place. I Was up $500 on the day and tossed around some long shot tris for $5 I had no program nothing, just picked numbers, it was a race at cal expo, I picked that as there was a free video feed to watch that track.... one hit and paid me $12,000 total! And this place paid full track odds on tris.....well the next day they kicked me out of their sportsbook! But they paid in full with a cashiers check within 30 days (half at first and then the rest in 30 days ) and I was thrilled.

Leykis,
They are still around. They also do the small books you get at the casinos and otb as well as sportform and pro weekly (i think it was called). I left when i moved back in the mid-late 90's.. I don't remember that Col. name but there were quite a few characters.Clyde hirt was a real nice guy (the oldtime horseplayers probably remember him) rest his soul. Had some good times there.
Funny quick story: Right behind my desk was a little office that was rented to Wayne Root. All day long i would here him yelling on the phone "This is my biggest play of the year" etc....Guy was the biggest a-hole around.

I hit the tri a few years ago when Charasmatic won at 35-1...paid around 6K.

Wish I had played the super, would have had that as well, paid like 65-90K if I remember. Wasn't all that hard either, Charasmatic was off the highest Beyer, Menifee figured big and ran 2nd, can't remember 3rd there, and I think it was Prime Timber in 4th, a Baffert horse that figured. I guess the fact that there were 15 or so betting interests made it pay so much.

17k this year on Pleasant Home in the BC. No exacta, no tri, just straight to the house. By far the best call of my life...In fact I just ordered a framed 16X20 of her winning. Expensive but she'll always have a special place in my heart.

How do you bet that $100 across the board?
