Las Vegas, NV) -- After 40 years on the Las Vegas Strip, the "Westward Ho" motel and casino is closing its doors. Earlier this year, Voyager Entertainment International and Centex Destination Properties teamed up to buy the property. The two firms plan to build a 600-foot "observation wheel" and a new master-planned resort on the site. Located between the Stardust and Circus Circus resorts, the Westward Ho first opened its doors in 1965. It bills itself as the largest motel in the world, and is known for its cheap rooms and inexpensive food.

Many, many a drunken nights began and ended there. Free flowing 24/7 champagne parties, $1.49 MEGA DOGS and a crap table literally inches from the front door. Sad to see it go the way of Little Caesars and the rest of the dives.

used to have bachelor parties in the apartments...they had 2 or 3 bedrooms...kitchen...living room...and a pool and spa for every 4-6 units...was the bomb in the late 70's early 80's...
