With the Holidays almost upon us, I was wondering who to give a little "something something" to and who not to. My girl says anyone that provides a service. I'm not so sure. Mailman, paperboy, garbageman. We have an Orkin man that comes out to spray for bugs-she even wants to tip him.

What do you guys think?

I like to tip the mailman, fed-ex guy and paperboy etc. a few times thru out the year. This way it means more when you walk out there and give them a spiff in the middle of summer when they least expect it. It goes a long way since they are not expecting it. Just my 2 cents.............G.

Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't tip.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't tip?
Mr. Pink: Nah, I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in tipping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make shit.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money, then she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a fuk-king Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you don't ever tip?
Mr. Pink: I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.
Mr. Blue: Hey, our girl was nice.
Mr. Pink: She was okay. She wasn't anything special.
Mr. Blue: What's special? Take you in the back and suck your dikk?
Nice Guy Eddie: I'd go over twelve percent for that.

AND

MR PINK: I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's fuk-ked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fuk-ks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuk-kin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuk-kin' surprise.

A less than attentive letter carrier can make your life miserable, give 'em $5 or $10 at X-Mas and consider it insurance.

Garbageman can save you big money by taking things they shouldn't (tires, over-sized items, furniture, heavy items, etc.), $10 or a bottle at X-Mas and they'll take whatever you have all year.

Christmas Holiday Tipping Etiquette

Christmas is a great time of year to remember those people who serve you regularly. Since it only occurs once a year, holiday tipping can be a source of holiday stress, but it need not be so. I recommend a gift or a tasteful Christmas card with a tip inside. Delivery should occur in the month of December prior to Christmas day.

  • Maid/House cleaner - one week's pay
  • Mail carrier - $10-20
  • Apartment building superintendent - $20-100
  • Doorman/concierge - $50-100 or more, depending upon building
  • Manicurist/pedicurist - $15 or more
  • Hairdresser/stylist - $15 or more
  • Newspaper delivery boy - Daily - $25 - 50, weekend - $10
  • Teacher - $25-100. Give a gift certificate to a bookstore or office supply store. If you know the teacher's hobbies or interests, then a gift certificate would be nice from the local movie theater, hobby shop, mall, fine restaurant or day spa. Some teachers might feel uncomfortable receiving gifts around grade time. If you are unsure, ask your principal first.
  • Garbage collector(s) - $15-20 each
  • Baby sitter - two-to-three night's pay, plus maybe a gift
  • Full-time nanny - one week's pay
  • Day care service - $25-70 plus a gift
  • Lawn service - $25

The mailman? For what? Stuffing my box with a bunch of junk I don't want? And even then the guy can't do that right. Half the time it's all smashed up or dropped on the ground. That deserves a tip?

The garbage man. How does one tip the garbabe man? Where do you put it? Do you get up extra early and go hand it to him personally? What if he's filling in for the usual guy? How many here can pick out your garbage man in a line-up?

Why is tipping always a one way street? The customer is always expected to tip the service provider. How many times have you gone to your regular hair stylist and had them say "oh no, this one's on me." I went to the same person for years and always tipped well. Not once did they return the favor.
