I have "Web TV" but not the older version you're thinking of (but I did have that one about five years ago though and thought it was lacking). I bought a stripped down computer on ebay for about $200 and hooked it up to my living room TV. It's connected to my wireless network and using a wireless keyboard and a mouse meant for presentations I can switch TV inputs and surf the net. It's great.
