I know its early, and USC will probably win, but with miami losing and Penn st winning, what would happen if USC lost? Would Penn st play for the national title?

Penn St. deserves to play for a national title considering their history.

Penn St. definitely would deserve it if USC lost to be completely honest. Penn St.'s one loss would be in the Big House, USC's loss would be against a WAC team at home (crosses fingers) GO BULLDOGS!!!!

not sure if they would deserve because USC is probably the better team. But since penn st has been jobbed before, it would be nice to see penn st finally get in.

Penn State has had their share of getting lucky too. Don't get me started on the game with Nebraska in the 80's where the receiver caught the ball out of bounds and was credited with a catch.

You mean like the 94 year where Penn St. went 12-0 with Carter, Collins, and Engram with a much harder schedule and got shafted cuz the pollsters thought Osborne "deserved" one, besides having a weaker schedule and looking less impressive. Should've at least been a split title. Penn St. definitely got jobbed there.

every team has had luck during some big games. but paterno has had 5 undefeated teams and only 2 national titles. So i still think the college football gods owe him one. And after all the criticism (including from myself), he deserves a shot at texas.

If USC loses, then I am sure you will get on the game line at the 2nd half, and put money in your pocket.....I think it wil be worth a strong look, USC looks tired

Well, I think it depends how much USC loses by. By an FG maybe they're still in.

Like to see ol' Joe in it tho, stick it to the idiot ageist talking heads.

I don't think so. If the Trojans lose this game but beat UCLA, they probably would finish second behind Texas in the BCS standings, particularly with Miami being defeated tonight at home against Georgia Tech.

Was just getting ready to post that Ted. Good chance USC still plays Tex for #1. Guess the line would drop from USC being a 6 or 7 point favorite:suomi: .

Alot will depend on how they lose tonight. If they lose by a FG then they may still have a shot. but if they lose by 10 or more against fresno st (of all teams) that could really hurt their chances and image among the voters.

That would be just fine with me. Different match-up situation then the Trojans are facing tonight. Fresno State plays the same style as Pac 10 teams. Texas does not.

Not a chance if USC loses tonite at home to a mid-major.....PSU jumps them. Why??? Computers.....PSU is LOVED by computers. One loss was in the Big House and also earlier in the season. USC loss would be later in the season and at home against a team that 4 computers didnt have in their top 25 this week. if usc loses, they are done.

As i recall, if Penn st hadnt lost to michigan, the computers were going to have PSU in the top 2. Dont remember if it was over texas or USC. The computers do love PSU.

Texas will get whacked ... ghees, how weak is the Big 12 this year?

I hope USC continues to struggle as that will hopefully drive the line down ...
