Will be officially announced soon

Marlins get Anibal Sanchez, and Hanley Ramirez, and one other minor leaguer

Hopefully Beckett can get his blisters in order

What happens to Bill Mueller?

Guess Lowell can play a little OF too, right?

Having a strong minor league system is great

Red Sox get a dominant pitcher (albeit he has blister issues) and a great hitting 3rd baseman

I love this deal....I think Beckett is an outstanding pitcher.....and he brings in a BIG GUN to the sox pitching lineup.....

I think Lowell was a gold glove 3rd baseman this year, although I also believe he struggled at the plate. Love Beckett. But the Red Sox should be advised if they begin dealing young talent for vets, it could come back to haunt.

Lowell was brutal at the plate. There was some talk of him being a "roid head". I know the Red Sox felt they didn't give up much, but Florida is masters of getting the best of minor leaguers. Beckett and Lowell will disappoint.

Lowell sucks...but wow, getting Beckett is huge.

I totally agree
I could care less about Lowell

Beckett is going to be top notch

I have a good feeling about him...I always loved seeing him pitch for the Marlins

Great great talent and not a 40 year old by any means

I don't like this trade for Boston...they need pitching badly but Lowell may be the worst regular player in MLB .

Let them trade Lowell to someone that will take him
There are many many bad trades yearly...SOMEONE will take a shot with him

The Sox just wanted Beckett.....I as a sox fan could care less what happens with Lowell..just give me Beckett

I see your point, and with Boston they can afford to blow the money on that loser...he will probably ride pine anyway...

Florida desperately needed to ge out from under his 'million dollar per homer' contract...afterall he did whack 8 roundtrippers last yr.

Florida also wants to unload Carlos Delgado (who had a very good season)...

Another fire-sale down in Miami...why this franchise even exists is beyond me...

This trade is a prime example of everything that is wrong with baseball .

Yeah exactly...I mean it sucks losing some GREAT farm players, but to get an arm like Beckett right away, when you NEED pitching, it just smells right for Boston

I don't care what happens to Lowell

After seeing what happened to Red Sox pitching this past season, we can't get enough of it for 2006

I wonder if Lowell is headed to the Mets. They talked about him playing first for them last year. Can't imagine how they would work the money if Manny is involved.

I like getting Beckett but wouldn't be surprised if this is just a stop off for Lowell.
