I was just wondering how people can do Western Union deposits and transfers when Western Union strictly prohibits gaming activity.

Yea thats the weird thing. They told me to send it to a person. I sent it to the person and then I got a warning saying Western Union strictly prohibits gaming transactions.

I sent the Western Union deposit to WSEX. I don't know if i want to risk another western union money transfer though if I could be in legal trouble if I do it again.

Depending on how "stealth" the sportsbook is ......WU might get cranky if you are using a cc on the internet or over the phone

if you take cash to the wu agency normally there is no problem at all

Well I did this on the computer with my bank account. I just found it weird how so many people do western union with no problem and then I do it once and have prompts warning me how it's illegal to send money to gaming companies through them.

I am young so the lady called her manager.

no lie the manager asked me if this wu transaction was drug related.

I asked for my money back and signed up neteller

never been happier

Yea, I don't think I'm going to mess with Western Union, don't want to get in any legal problems and they seem pretty strict, at least to me.

Sign up with Neteller, that will end all the hassles. I will say though I have sent a lot of WU's and never been hassled. What happens is every now and then one of the individuals name (they have several) a book uses for the players to send their money to will get flagged. Instead of sending it to a particular book they will have you send it to Alberto Rodriguez or something. Then when he/she gets flagged by WU anyone sending money to that person will get the warning you got. No big deal, the book crosses that name off the list once they realize it and uses another name. You could probably use WU another 100 times and it never happen again.

Still recommend Neteller though.

With WU best to keep amounts under 1K, larger amounts require more personal info and ID. Books will give multiple receiver names to accomodate this. Don't do too much in a short time period or Big Brother may want to have a talk with you about "structuring".

actually, i send $10,000 to pinnacle each month via Western Union because i get 1% cash-back on all my transactions and my credit card issuer doesn't consider WU a "cash advance", they consider it a "purchase"...

i do this every month, it gets me a free $1,200 each year, just for a few minutes of work (making the call to WU takes about 10-15min.)

then after i cycle my money through pinnacle a bit, i use my free neteller withdrawal, withdraw my funds, send it back to my checking account via an EFT with neteller and then pay off my credit card bill before it's even due...

a lot of people have had problems with WU, but i never have...and i've sent a LOT of money thru them....

they do report every transaction over $3,000 to the IRS along with your SSN, but so far that's never affected me in any way...

the WU reps only ever ask me if i know the person i'm sending the money to. i always say "yes, he/she is a business associate of mine in the philipines." they never ask anything else.

Your next to last paragraph will come into play once you get audited!! Everybody does everything until they get audited!
For your information be careful!

This was an insane low amount like 350.00. It was awhile ago though. I signed up with Neteller though and got that going. I like that alot except it takes them forever to clear the money from your account.

Never a problem here, in fact Western Union rewards is nice and I got a ciruit city gift card for 150$ already. Books will cover the fees too.
