Pathetic conference? Are you kidding? They sent multiple teams to the NIT last year, Mason almost knocked out Maryland in the 1st round of the NCAA tourney a few years back, VCU was on its way to becoming Cinderella two years ago until Chris Paul had the 1:30 of his life. UNCW was consistently Cinderella a few years back when Brent Blizzard was playing(who can forget their upset of USC in the 1st round, and better yet, Drew Nicholas' miracle three-pointer at the buzzer to send the Terps past UNCW? Still one of my all-time favorite tourney moments), and ODU was top 5 in the nation in wins last year and had it not been for being matched up with a much better than it was seeded MSU team, would've made it to at least the 2nd round last year. ODU will make it again this year and advance past the first round, just watch.

Oh, not to mention that some analysts are predicting that if ODU were to lose in the conference tourney, they'd still get an at-large bid and the CAA would send two teams to the dance. Northeastern, Drexel, Mason, and VCU would all be legit tourney teams and tough first round matchups.

This is not a pathetic conference by any means.

This is not a pathetic conference by any means.

Wisconsin, a middle of the road Big Ten team, has allready exposed ODU for what they are.

Don't try and convince the country that this is even a mediocre conference.

It is what it is..........a crappy conference.

Not sure they should be considered crappy...

Drexel pushed Duke to the limit and lost on a last second play to UCLA this week where they had the ball in a tie game with 6 seconds left.

ODU is a solid team as well.

Not an elite conference by any means...but far from crappy.

That Drexel team was picked to finish 8th in the conference.

yes, over the course of a season if playing in big10, big12, acc, etc....none of those teams would finish in the top half...they would all be cellar dwellars. Anyone can pull off an upset...they can't do it night in, night out however.

Exactly!

ODU would finish no better than 7th in the Big Ten.........and they are the best team in conference.........allegedly.

Drexel hs looked very decent early.

1-3 slightly above average teams does not make a conference.

Some high schools would defeat the bottom one or two teams in this conference.

ODU outplayed Wisconsin for about 36 minutes of that game, and that game was in the state of Wisconsin, basically a home game. They lost by 3 on the road to a Big 10 team. They manhandle Wisconsin at home.

And I didn't say the CAA was an elite conference. They're what they are: a mid-major conference. But ODU is a great team. They'll be special this year.

And as for the Big 10? This year, ODU would finish ahead of PSU, OSU, Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern, and possibly Michigan, Illiniois, and Wisconsin.

Unless you watched the ODU-Wisky game(which I did, and something tells me you haven't watched ODU play over the past year), don't judge this team too quickly. Keep in mind I really dislike ODU. But they are very, very good.

Isnt Georgia State the team that Lefty Drisell took to the NCAA tourney just a few years ago, and they almost won, they were a very good team if i remember correctly....at the time, i wasnt even aware he was coaching again, until the team started getting press, then they made the dance, and if i remmeber right i dont even think they were a 15/16 seed, think they got in as a 12/13 seed, and were very good team...

I may be wrong, but i thought it was Georgia State...

bucsfan - you are correct, though at the time G Southern was not part of the CAA.
I hate to disagree with you Fishhead, but the CAA has consistently played some of the better opening round games in the NCAA tournaments. Granted the lower part of the conference is pretty bad, but this conference always fields competitive teams, much better than some other mid major conferences
