I am watching the bball game on espn2 and they showed fans walking down sidewalk to the game and they were 2 feet away from a huge moose. First, I had no idea those animals were that big. Second, the ppl were not the least bit scared.

Unless you put female deer piss on you like some hunters in vidieos or they are in rut I think you are OK. Oh wait, that is unless you are driving a small car at 60 and startle one in the middle of the road.

yes they are very dangerous...could and would easily kill a human. Maybe that particular one was used to seeing humans and did not see them as a threat.

I have a buddy in Alaska and visited him for a couple weeks this summer....I asked him this very question when we saw one. They are for the most part not too dangerous and not aggressive but could easily hurt you badly or even kill you...there are a few kills he said from moose attacks....usually the only reason they are aggressive is if it is a mother and she has a calf around. They weigh anywhere from 800 - 1600 lbs and pack a mean kick. Many are struck by cars and we all know what deer do...just imagine hitting one of these big boy roys!! They have signs up on the side of the roads showing the numbers of moose that have died from car hits for the year. He said the moose in town are generally pretty non agressive but you don't know what to expect when you're hiking or skiing so it's best to avoid them.

lol not that simple a lot of people do use an ATV and they work out pretty good sometimes and I would'nt mind if walking at all if there was a trail or something 100 pounds on your shoulder aint too bad on nice walkable terrain but sometimes you dont get that lucky we shot this one only say 1000 yards from the truck and it was some brutal terrain you'd never get an ATV in there it took like a half hour just to walk it with nothing on your shoulder.

Would you guys please quit shitting your pants?

Everyone knows that moose are pretty tame....just walk up to one with a carrot or a cube of sugar in one hand and then you can pet 'em with your free hand....:toast:

I went snowmobiling in Vermont
Way up in the mountains.....
There were 3 snowmobiles in our group....we went WAY off "path" and went exploring....

Two guys ahead of me...I'm following close behind.....
We are going down this huge straight away and they turn left......
All of a sudden they slam on the brakes, and I rearend one of them, and their taillight goes flying off....
I am a little stunned, look up..and there is a 1400 lb+ Moose standing smack dab in the middle of the path.....8 feet in front of us.....We were at the top of a hill when they started to make the turn.....Moose looks at us, gives a snort, and trampled on down the hill

Never been so afraid of wildlife in my life...This thing could have EASILY crushed us...

When we got back to camp I asked one of the experienced guides in the area, and he said that one time when he was giving a tour they just happened upon one...Thing ran straight for his snowmobile...he jumped off, the moose CRUSHED the entire snowmobile, and the guy had to ward it off with a huge stick....

They are not to be messed with

Also just like the other posters said...a lot of the roads esp in the mountains are small and narrow

at night driving around there its dangerous as anything
The Moose literally walk on the side of the road in groups of 2-3

Not hard to smash into one...driving drunk around there must be like a video game
