Banning is in the City Section - totally different bracket. Not sure if it's like this in other big cities around the nation, but the schools within Los Angeles city limits (for the most part - there are a few exceptions, I believe) are in their own Section for playoffs and such. Banning, Carson, Narbonne, Dorsey, etc.

All other schools, such as those listed in this post, are in the CIF Southern Section.

Back in the day, the city schools ruled the gridiron. Nowadays, they would get romped by schools such as Mission Viejo, Los Alamitos, Poly, Mater Dei, etc.
