I figured this at SC-17. When is the last time a 9-1 team got +20 in its home town against a very unimpressive defense?
Mackey Award candidate Marcedes Lewis will score 18 himself, figure the little guy is good for one special team score against USC's terrible kick defense.Drew Olsen,he of 30 td's and only 3picks has had two weeks plus an off season of film study-is totally healthy and chomping at the bit. Drew will not pull a Pinegar or Ayoob (multiple int's).
Yes UCLA sucks on defense-especialy against the run-thats why this will be a 20 carry game for Lendale-keep the bruins off the field-but that means USC will not be in the fifties. Worst case is SC 49 to thirty something. Probably be like last year which wasn't a shootout at all. UCLA scored 21 each of the last three years when SC had great defense.
The bad news for west coast haters is USC still goes to RoseBowl/National Title game with a close loss to a top six team(if UCLA wins yeah they will move way up).

I read at another forum they opened -23.5, looks like the books are trying to attract a lot of Bruin money(and have succeeded so far). I think SC shuts these guy down on defense after the embarrasment last week vs. Fresno.

I was ready to jump all over USC at anything less than 21...now I am not so sure. The Bruins can score and USC seems to enjoy these shootouts. If UCLA can put up 28-35, that makes for a tough cover.

Could very easily see a backdoor cover as well.

Pleas don't use "shut down" and USC defense in same sentence-can only happen against mediocre offenses like Cal,Rice or Texas.

When the Trojans are excited about the game the defense seems to show up, see the Oregon 2nd half. I think it takes a team that pounds up the middle to give SC fits, I don't think UCLA fits the mold. I think USC sleepwalked through many of their games, but I look for a strong defensive effort in this one.

GL on your play though

Redwood hits on a key point, Olsen best qb Sc has faced, and yes Tinco Texas runs a highschool offense and cant pass very will be easily stopped like OU was last year.

Very live dog here, not to mention 2 large storm systeym in the Pacific currently do in for the 1pm kickoff on Saturday at MLK and Fig street.

This isnt only 1 vs 2 in the Pac 10, this is basically 1 vs 2 in the country, this is the Grand daddy of them all regardless of who plays January in Pasadena.

LOL....I knew the homer job was coming Rail.

USC was damn lucky to escape with a win vs. Northern Cal University for Parolees.

Personally, I hope USC wins-because at this point, it seems like anything other than a USC-Texas matchup would be wrong.

I believe it's Lendale White...line looks about right to me...won't be playing this one unless it goes to like 17 or 24...which it probably won't...

the canes would have crushed sc

The Canes don't have the offense to crush anyone...they might win, but they can't crush teams in the ACC, let alone the top teams in the country.

You could have went a step further and said "Please dont use the word defense when it comes to Any Pac-10 team"

they crushed tech.

:lolBIG:

Tech turned the ball over 6 times and Miami beat them by 20...hardly what I would call crushing a team.
