OT- I am waiting for a biopsy on my esopagus and I am very scared!!

Had a scope done last week after 25 years of acid reflux and found out that I have Barrett's Esopagus which is very serious in itself, and then he tells me he took three biopsies because the tissue looked strange to him. I freak out and search the internet for info on Esopagus Cancer and it says it is almost always fatal. Say a prayer for me boys as I am really scared. If anyone has had long standing heartburn get to a doctor and get sceened.

Best of luck to you. Dont jump to any conclusions before you get any news. I am lucky enough to have 2 people in my life that are Cancer survivors, my wife and my father. Medicine has come a long way over the years. Stay optomistic and tackle whatever news they give you. If you need someone to talk to, let me know.

I was told once that 98% of the things we worry about never come true.
I will say a prayer for you. Please keep faith as best you can, I know it's easy for us to say that, but stay strong, as no matter how much you worry, it won't change anything. I truly believe you do not have anything life-threatening. The best to you. Keep us posted.:toast:

2 things harrington: 1. Don 't believe everything you read on the net. 2. They are developing newer and better meds everyday for cancer.
PS many years ago --doctors gave my grandmother less than 6 months to live with cancer. Umm--She lived about 15 YEARS more.

I too have had acid reflux conditions for atleast 8 years, I will heath your words and look into getting it looked at more closely.. I'am currently on Protonix and have been for about 2 years now. The protonix helps tremendously, but on the other hand I may be over looking somthing more serious..

I truly hope thing's work out.
