watch your cable or satellite television on your lap top anywhere in the world. comp usa, circut city best buy etc all charge $249.

probably be like vcrs, tivos, big screen tvs, satellite systems etc they will continue to be new and improved for less cost. but if anyone has one how is it?

would this work with my wireless laptop??

Of course. That's the point of the product. To get TV on the road or say a computer at work. As long as you have internet access, you can access your home computer.

My bad.

You don't even need a home computer. Goes right from the device to the internet.

Thank you Hilo boy. I just ordered one. I will report back on this thing. Went to Cnet and read the user reviews. This little fucker is going to be known like Tivo within 6 months. Unreal.

The gadgets are out of control......and the public is going to be all over them. Everyone has to be plugged into everything all the time. The US population is turning into one big ADD study, and it's only going to get worse.

How does it work? How do you access your TV from outside your home? Is it a special program or web site or what? I saw this thing and it looked awesome, but I was confused on some of the details and stuff.

Basically you hook up the sling box with your home cable. Then you can access your channels from ANYWHERE in the world you can get high speed internet access. If you're in China, you log on to your laptop, and you control your home channels from where you are. You can watch ESPN if you're in China.

The only thing is that it controls your home channels. So if you're on business and you're trying to change the channels. It'll change them at home too so that whoever is watching tv will be watching what you're watching.

To solve that problem you could put the device on a different cable connection than the one used for main TV viewing...it's just like another TV in another room.

THIS thing sounds AWESOME!!!! TTinco, sure gadgets are out of control, but but BUT would you rather watch BBC broadcasts or ESPN while in London? That is cool. You want to be well-rounded you're saying? Watch BBC until you start to say ALOOMINIOM for Aluminum THEN turn off the tely and turn your computer to ESPN!!! tulsa

I see ESPN....watched my team....I love US football, if you know what I mean. And I say to myself....what a wonderful world.

Since I can't get Sunday ticket, I might as well hook this up to someone that has it and watch their football on Sundays.
Any reason why this would not work?

The next generation model is going to have a USB port on the back of it....to support wireless networks

That way you don't have to have your cable modem wire coming in at the same location where the sling box is located

That is when I will jump on it....I'd much rather have a little wireless router USB HUB connected to it....then have to connect my cable modem wire to it

great device though
