For example Pinny and Oly have ML's in foots up sunday night for the NEXT sunday's games and overnights on ncaa Hoops all the time

why do other books wait until Wed or thursday to do ML and other lines?? and not have ncaa overnights ...its very fustrating to have to log in after certain times to check to see if the lines are up to wager:icon_conf

When I try other books I usually always always go back to the books that put the lines up the earliest and have overnights

I wish they ALL would do that:sad3:

Dante...I think they want the Big house's to set the number and then Post so they do not set a bad line and get pounded.................G.

Strictly a safety measure, as Bigbet as indicated.

However, in my opinion, sportsbooks are making a big mistake by not providing this in at the very least with small limits.

For example, and don't think DANTE will mind me saying this, he is a relatively small bettor moneywise..............as are literally thousands of online bettors such as him.

Why not accommodate these players instead of steering them someplace else?

To me, it does not make good business sense.

very obvious, those that wait are waiting on early movement...it can be annoying but we all have options to just play at the big time books who aren't afraid.

Exactly Fish..that would be much more reasonable..I mean have the NFL ML's up monday night at least and put a 200$ limit on them until Thursday

or something but at LEAST have them there!

Maybe at some stores, they may be scared, but I doubt it. Most places do not get enough action that early in the week to merit putting them up. You guys (most of you at least) do not realize that every time a line changes, the money line and the first half lines have to be moved also - and this takes time. Something you do not have enough of to be moving lines that are not being played while 10 NBA and college hoops numbers are moving. That's why you see the big boys' money lines not adjusted all the time for line moves, same thing for 1st halfs too.

I don't know what difference it makes. 95% of the players don't bet until Saturday at the earliest, and most on Sunday. Those that bitch about it have probably never placed an early bet in their betting lives!

sucks alot when you don't have much time during the day to look at NBA/NCAA, but skybook, betjam, hollywood all dont put lines up until the morning, so you can't place nething until then...

Everyone is exactly right. The big boys go first and take all comers, the meek come out and play later. The earlier you put up numbers the more exposure you subject yourself to, the later you post them the safer it is.

Dante

Well most of the offshore joints are waiting for the leaders to get the numbers bet into shape. Its like lets wait an see where this number settles down so we dont have to expose our $$ at that other number, of ALL of those numbers that we had to move off of.
If you have noticed ONLY the really wiseguy joints and HUGE stores are First on the street with a set of numbers.
Some of those are just wanting to see where the money is comeing, and WHO'S playing where, and for how much.

Cool Dante. For instance if you look at the NBA then you will see that the total on Indy game opened at 198. I guarantee you the big boys (Pinnacle, Oly, CRIS) were the first one's out there and they got hit pretty good. Right now the total is down to 194 in a lot of places, who knows it may drop even further. They took a lot of U198 bets from sharps, eventually when this number settles in they are going to be left wide open to be middled here. They are exposed as we like to say, much more exposed than a book that is just now hanging their numbers for tonights same NBA games that the big boys had out long ago. Insiders is correct, the longer a book waits the more the numbers can shake out and the safer it is for them to open up.

I will say this in defense of some of the smaller books, they need to be more careful because they don't have the handle to overcome too many mistakes. They have to really keep an eye on what they are hold, without that they can't survive. The big clearing house types of books do have some cushion, they can hang numbers earlier because they do the volume that the smaller books don't do. If you take a billion in action you might can hold 1% and be okay, the small shops just can't take the risks that go along with being first out to hang numbers. I'm blabbering now but regardless your first post was right on, as a player you can't help but keep coming back to the Olympic, Greek and CRIS type of books if you like to wager early.

Good point. This week I found that BetJamaica has $250 overnight limits on hoops when I tried to place marginally more. Of course they had a better number than Pinnacle.

So the common concensus here is that lots of recreational betters don't get to betting untilt he day before or hte day of?

Wouldn't there be a lot of recreational betters that like to chase their losses and then try to make a play for the next week the SECOND that they lose the bet they have for this week?
