<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=583 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width=275>These days, sportsbooks are literally crawling over each other to court the small recreational bettor. They throw him bonuses, reloads, Bonus Bets, and contests—whatever it takes to keep him happy . . . and losing.

But who has a kind word for the wiseguys, the sharps, the steamers, the movers, the chasers, the beards, the scalpers, and the market makers? Certainly not the sportsbooks. Yet this cast of characters also plays a vital role in the gambling ecosystem. Isn’t it time someone extended them a helping hand as well?

That’s why we’re launching our Big Boy Special for new signups. Here’s how it works: join Matchbook today, deposit at least $1,000, drop us a mail, and your account will be automatically set to trade commission-free for your first two weeks.

It’s an ideal way to make big wagers at the best odds out there. And with football, basketball and hockey typically trading at -103 by -103 or better, Matchbook is delivering the best prices on the board.

After your two-week window has passed, your account will be reset to our standard commission rate. But the good news is that even then your rate will be an incredibly low 2% across the board. </TD><TD width=40></TD><TD vAlign=top width=268>No sliding scales or complicated moving averages are applied to your commission rate based on your trading volume. It’s a flat 2%, on winning bets only, with your profit defined as your total win per market, not per bet. That’s a critical advantage if you’re betting both sides of an event.
Finally, remember that Matchbook is not a sportsbook, it’s an exchange. That means two things every Big Boy should love:

1. Control over the odds

If you want better odds than you see, just put up an offer. If -103 isn’t good enough for you, make an offer for +100 and get a price that would be unthinkable outside the world of exchange betting.

2. Winners are welcome

You don’t have to spend valuable time working the limits at a dozen different sportsbooks anymore. Matchbook has no reason to limit down or bar any player from the exchange, no matter how much he’s ahead.

Take advantage of our Big Boy Special while it lasts; in a world of clone books with shrinking limits, you’ll be happy to know that size still counts at Matchbook.

guys, am I correct in assuming that the 2% commission is only on the WIN amount, not the RISK amount....

EXAMPLE:

if I risk 110$ to win 100$ & the bet wins, I pay 2$ in commission, 2% of the amount I was trying to win?

is this example correct?

yup, and they are good about giving back the "commision credits" on the deposit fees....never had any problem with them showing up....

i really like placing wagers at that place....only bad thing, no parlays or anything like that, but u can get great odds on straight bets...

what if you lose all your money before you have had a chance to use your commission credits?

do the credits stay on account for the next time you deposit?

Hopefully we won't find out. I spent a few days making some micro plays 'til I got the hang of it. Look for some values in the alternate lines on the games that offer them.

the interface is so simple it would seem hard to make a mistake, given the fact that I have 0% commission right now (for 2 weeks only) it seems there are scalps galore....

I guess I will just re-load if my money accidentally gets 'moved' out.... but wow, I am very impressed with the interface & the numbers....

The only thing that I wish Matchbook would offer is the ability for the player to become the "Market Maker" and be able to offer alternate lines, odds, etc. other than what is already in the market.

Actually there is something else I'm hoping they are looking at, and they claim they are is a horse racing exchange. EHorse(X) was a great idea. Nothing like laying money on bad favorites.

There is a MarketMaker link, top right of market frame. You can determine the vig and software will offer odds on both sides of the market, but you cannot change handicap or totals.

I know you can change the vig, but I want to be able to set my own line and offer it. I got too used to it with horse exchanges where you can take or lay odds of your own.

Me too. Apparently you can contact them to ask them to hang an alternate line but it's time prohibitive.

Yeah. You can ask them, but that's about it. That really does kind of annoy me about matchbook. Not enough to make me stop using them however. All it does is reduce the volume of wagers that I have there.

I'm shifting around between matchbook, Olympic, and sportingbet.com

Just a word of warning here lads. Nowhere in their statement does it say that funds are ring-fenced or a security bond put in place should things go tits-up. there comment
QUOTE:
We are further authorized by the Republic of Ireland to provide wagering-support services to our clients. Both jurisdictions take their licensing obligations very seriously, and require applicants to undergo rigorous scrutiny.

is laughable.
As in the UK, to attain a Bookmaker Permit, one only has to apply at the next local court sitting and providing the applicant hasnt a criminal record and there is no external objections, is issued with the worthless bit of paper. Countless Bookmakers of all sizes do a runner every year and there is no law to say they have to pay you, even the big ones, as always other than what I stated above, the only other safe-guard is the book having plenty of property (betting shops) Only last year the exchange SPORTING OPTIONS went under with everyones wedge offering the same comforts, keep your funds at levels that do not impact on your overall situation.:103631605

They are linked to WSEX I'd believe, so I'm probably as comfortable with funds at Matchbook as I am at WSEX itself..

I've taken several payouts from here and they've always come quickly (in fact $2500 just hit my Neteller 5 minutes ago)..

SportingOptions were seeding markets, which was their downfall. Admittedly we only have Matchbook's word they're not doing the same, but I know there are market makers out there (see TBX) so I find their argument perfectly believable..

Maybe the Matchbook rep can chime in, and tell us whether they've looked into ring-fencing client funds?
