Still thinking about getting another dog for gf for Christmas? Do you guys find it better to have 2 dogs or is it more annoying. I am still unsure. I know it will be twice as much hair, crap and less room on the bed but I think it will also help my current dog not be as bored because he will have a friend.

gotta agree that 2 are better than 1....not only for you, but for the dogs as well. they have somebody to play with all day long. Personally i have 3 dogs. its a bit more of a hassle, but not much. let them both out at the same time, feed them at the same time, etc. Get the 2nd dog.

I had 2 dogs. 2 girls from the same litter. They were Shetland Sheepdogs so they had the herding instinct. They ran around each other in circles trying to herd each other.

My friend had one dog and the dog always wanted attention from him so he got another one and the 2 dogs played with each other more.

current dog is a huge attention whore. Cries if her(gf) and I even sit next to each other on couch. But I have seen the dog around other dogs and loves to be with them. This is a HUGE decision that I'm still debating. Heck this is a 10-15 year commitment and I haven't even gave girlfriend that.

You're buying dog food anyway, right? You just have to buy a bit more. Not too much extra hassle.

And you'll feel way less guilty leaving your dog at home when he's got a friend. Sure they'll hate each other at first, but give them three or four weeks and they'll get along fine.

Just double trouble, thats all. Over the course of time you will not believe what it will cost you. Food, Vet, Groomers, the list goes on. I read somewhere that it cost about 6500.00 over the course of a dogs life, that is if No big Vet bill are incured. I used to have 2 dogs and one died, if and when the other goes i am DONE with pets. You cant believe how attached a human being gets to a pet, much less the other way around.

To me its not that much more work. The new dog will more than likley take its place in the pack as 2nd fiddle in most phases.Make sure your #1 is still #1 but check his/her agressivness toward the other one hard. Make the clear distinction your the alpha. If you enjoy dogs it can be more work but twice the enjoyment too..

2 Dogs is the way to go. I have 2, a Great Pyrennese and Black Lab?Border Collie mutt. Even though one outweighs the other by about 80 pounds, they are best friends. Dogs gets lonely too and they love the fact that they have a playmate. Just be warned, it will take a few months for each of them to get used to each other. You'll be glad you did it though.

Zero dogs in this world period is the way to go. What is this fixation with having a dirty creature in the home? - pi55ing and p00ping and leaving it's dirty hairs and slobbering saliva everywhere. If people have that much spare time on their hands bring a child into this world or adopt one - might have more chance on making a difference to this world.

i have a min pin, thought he was lonley when i went to work, so i bought another one and they fought like hell, to the point where there was blood. both are males, i had to get rid of the second one....my dad on the other hand has 2 females and they love each other...consult a vet about the kind of dog, sex, etc...the vet will give the best insight!!

my 2 cents: I had a female boxer for a year, and everytime I would leav fo school or work, she wiould be sad and depressed looking till I came home...aa year later I got a male boxer, and while I admit the older female one still bullies him around and is very jealous (like most bitches, lol) they do play all day long, and keep each other entertained...and eventually they wil have puppies...I strongly recommend a 2nd dog...
