Good question, I'd be interested in that too if the scores were up to date.

With the XM radio it's pretty up to date. No longer then 5 min. You could actually put one specific game on the ticker a night if that's all you care about. (they let you pick your teams in the menu.)

I posted this before. The cool things is, if they're broadcasting the game, you turn to that channel and the screen has the score with pretty much instant updates.

Does anyone know if Satellite radio can be recorded via cassette tapes? I want to get it and tape Howard Stern like I can now on regular radio using a cassette recorder. Does it play through a regular stereo?

They all have an FM Transmitter so you could do it the same way you would record like you do now. Just put it to the right frequencey and you're set to go.

You could also hook up a wire coming out of the "Line out" of any receiver and go directly to the cassette recorder.

i have this one

football scores are updated instantly. hoops are about 1-2 minutes behind. havent listened to much hockey.

wanderer- some of the newest models will allow you to record up to 50 hours of show. sort of like tivo.

you guys should get the $500 lifetime (of the receiver) subscription. pays for itself in 38 months. only problem is you can only transfer for a fee to new receivers like 3 times so will be behind the technology a bit as they roll out better receivers.

savant,

That is the one that I have. It's great. Alot of NCAA games are broadcast every sat. and every NFL game is. That is why I went with Sirius. The screen tells you who's playing, the score of the game, and what quarter the game is in. If you have a favorite team it will alert you if your team is playing. I love the thing.

I have it, its great for listening to games in the car. Have had some issues picking up the signal indoor with the antenna though, and I don't think you can scroll through all the games like a sports pager. If so, I've never been able to figure it out and I've had it for about 2 years now. Also, for the car I'd only get the sportster version. Bought the Starmate for my girlfriend and their idea of a mounting kit is a suction cup that it supposed to stick to the windshield. Needless to say, it fell off all the time so had to get a little creative with mouting it.

I've also been looking into getting one ever since they crossed over and started offering the service to canucks. I WAS quiet keen on it, actually. Then I looked up the programming guides, and decided it's a complete letdown for the sports fan. First off(and that's something they DO NOT tell you), it seems that Sirius & XM have split the major pro sports(feel free to correct me) - meaning - live hoops & NFL on Sirius while live puck & bat on XM. Now, if I'm paying 15 bucks a month for a radio, I expect to be able to get live coverage on ALL pro sports by my provider - doesn't seem to be the case.
I'm sticking with the wap version of ESPN & Yahoo's scoreboards for the moment, expecting for one product to rollover full pro-sports coverage.

Both Sirius & XM have college football & college basketball, I think its split up by conferences or something. Sirius has NFL, NBA. XM has baseball, and I think they both have hockey...

Baseball vs NFL & NBA split is bad enough;o((( I'm more inclined to go with XM if their MLB rights are exclusive.

Rest assured they'll merge someday soon.
They're both losing money in such a disgusting manner that they have to unite soon enough.

For all you shareholders, prepare to be diluted!!!

savant,

Technically yes you can scroll through the channels and see the score. But heres the tricky part. You can scroll channels 2 ways. One way will let you keep listening to the channel your on without changing it on you. Problem is I dont think doing it that way would let you see the scores of the game, just what game is on. So to see the scores you'd have to scroll the other way. Problem with that is if you stop for more than like 2 seconds on a channel it will change it to that channel. Each game has its own specific channel and there all in a row so you could just flip through them real quick and see the scores. But for me b/t the sports channels and that includes sportscenter and a NFL channel, and the comedy stations I gladly spend the $12 a month.

How hard is it to install in the car? And what model would be good for both home and car use?

I took me about an hour to hook it up in the car and that incleded hiding all the wires. And the sportster can be used in the car and you can also buy a boombox to play it in the home.
