when i was 15 about to turn 16 m(1974) and getting my first car i wanted

di tomaso pantera
porsce 914
lotus europa
alfa romeo spider
fiat 2 seater convertible
bmw 2002?
not even sure if fiat and alpha still are around today but never see them on the road anymore. oh and i ended up with a datsun 260z.

my girl still has her bmw 2002 as our third car. gotten a few notes on the windshield if we want to sell it. good racing cars apparently.

I remember them all. The Pantera was almost a "concept car." It had, as I remember a 351 Cleveland Ford engine under the hood (well...under the rear window) and I don't think they ever solved the overheating problems.

The hot version of the BMW was the 2002tii. The Porsche 914 had the most uncomfortable seating position since the seats were about 3" off the floor. Didn't Diana Rigg drive a Lotus Europa in The Avengers? That Fiat was like all the rest of the Fiats: total rustbucket. The Alfa was way too rich for my blood.

In 1972 my car purchase came down to two cars: the Datsun 240z and the Triumph TR6. They both cost $3600 brand new. I chose the one with the Lucas electrics and rapidly got on a first-name basis with all the local towtruck drivers. I am still kicking myself.

ql dont feel bad the 74 260z had a problem with transmision i was driving back to ca from college in utah and the trans went as i was getting off the freeway to gas up in vegas. after 18 months so no warranty. aamco charged me almost $700 a fortune in those days

qt the car i really wanted was a dino or daytona ferarri but way out of our league even for kids at bev hills high
