O.J. Simpson cracking the 2000 yard mark...

On a snowy day and a chewed up Shea Stadium field needing 197 yards on the final week of the 1973 season, O.J. gained 200 yards and finished the season with 2003 yards, to this day, no one has ever gained 2000 yards in 14 games.

#19 Chuck Bednarik nearly killing Frank Gifford....

"I hit him straight on high and went right through him", "It was like a Mack Truck hitting a Volkswagon" Bednarik said...

Gifford who was hospitalized for 2 1/2 weeks ,to this day won't speak of the hit and missed two full seasons because of it.

Unaware Gifford was out cold, Bednarik danced over his lifeless body.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

#1 aLTHOUGH i WAS ON THE LOSING SIDE OF THIS GAME...IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST ...jmo

1992-93 Houston Oilers
Up 35-3 at halftime against the Buffalo Bills in an AFC wild-card game, the Oilers managed to turn backup Bills quarterback Frank Reich into a one-day folk hero by losing 41-38 in OT, the biggest in-game turnaround in NFL history. This was particularly painful, since the Oilers never made the Super Bowl during their years in Houston.

The 1993-1994 version of the Houston Oilers was definitely a "should'a been." It seemed poetic justice that our boys from the Oilpatch were a team on the ropes, with no chance of winning their division, much less home field advantage for a divisional playoff game. They had to pull together, show some heart and guts and fight their way out of a huge (read: gaping) hole.

Finding themselves at 1-4 after the NFL's fifth week, the Houston Oilers had to find a way to win. It was time to sink or swim. Put up or shut up. After all, Houston was supposed to be Super Bowl-bound "or else..." according to owner Bud Adams. Every week was now a must-win situation with no room for error. Perhaps they could swipe yet another AFC wild-card playoff spot. How would the Oilers respond to their dilemma? For 11 straight weeks, they did not lose a football game. They swept their division arch-rival Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth. They won their second-ever AFC Central crown by going 6-0 in division play. They even beat the San Francisco 49ers in Candlestick Park, a feat even Moses might have had trouble accomplishing.

#17 Marcus Allen 'Exit stage left' improbable escape to paydirt in Super Bowl XVIII

040121marcus.jpg

With the score 28-9 , Marcus Allen looked like he was about run straight into a wall of Redskins defenders on the outside. But he cuts in, and goes 74 yards for a touchdown that ended any hope of a Redskins comeback....On the play Allen broke the Super Bowl single game rushing record.

My personal favorite......which is also my first NFL memory......first time that I remember getting REALLY excited to watch a football game......I was 8 years old.

The Chicago Bears were undefeated and, wouldn't you know it, they had to go through Miami to keep the streak alive. Dan the man and the 'fins dominated the Bears and to this day..........................

Well, you know the rest!

I think that was also the game (or one of the games) where Ditka went off on Buddy Ryan on the sidelines in frustration. Good stuff!

The thing that stands out about that game, I believe there was a ball deflected and one of the Mark's bros caught the ball in stride for a touchdown....completely lucky play , it was the Bears night to fall I guess.
