Phil Simms was not the better athlete but had more heart and stones and was the better QB, in my opinion!

Steve Young

Two total opposite style QB's that played two the strength of their systems.

Young won far more games that Phil and Chris put together.

Young, and it's not even close. He was the "black qb" before there were any in the league. He could kill you running or passing! And I'm not sure how you can say he didn't have as much heart or balls/toughness as Simms. Simms was great, don't get me wrong, but I would compare him more along the likes of Jim Kelly or somebody. Just my opinion! :103631605

You can make a reasonable argument that Young was the most efficient NFL QB of all time --- so I'm pretty sure that he was better than Simms (who did, admittedly, play better than his physical tools would have suggested that he could).

Young, and my reason why is due to the teams he played on down here in TB, talk about god awful, lol.. He proved you can't throw when you are on the ground, but it was tough to get him on the ground.. We all figured when we traded him he would go on to greatness..

Phil Simms gets my vote. He had a lot less to work with on the Giants than Young had on the 49ers. Take away Jerry Rice from Young's 49ers and Young would be back in the USFL if it stayed around.

I think it is close. The people who say it isn't even close are being unfair. I would say Young, but not by much. The are both HOF QBs.

Simms.

He didn't have Rice and the others, and had to deal with those Meadowlands wind tunnels.

My guy was and always will be Simms, loved the guy, my favorite of all time, having said this, Young was better, but not by as much people think.
