They defeat Iowa AND finish higher in the BCS standings, and still they cannot garner a NEW YEARS DAY BOWL game.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I'm a "Michigan Man". Lived here my whole life. This was a weird year and I think Michigan fans are actually pretty happy the way the season turned out, they were close a few times to having a disastarous season. The OSU lost hurt but I doubt even Michigan fan's feel this team has earned the right to a "new year's bowl bid"

Can't remember a better NON New Years game as far as quality of teams is concerned as this years Peach Bowl game between LSU and MIAMI FLA.

How is Iowa the luckiest team in the world?

They have one of the Top 3 coaches in Div I / they have one of the Top 3 toughest fields to try and win on / their fans travel as well as any program in the country

Iowa has a class program and the Bowls know it

All the respect in the world for the Michigan program.

However, the past four seasons, IOWA has emerged a better overall program in more than one regard.

Absolutely!

One loss in what, their last 27 home games or something?

Would have to agree with DOC, not many places to invade and come away with a victory.

Ferentz is a man EVERY program would consider if they had an opening ...

the toughest stadium in the Big 10 to win is Kinnick and THAT IS A FACT ...

One of the top 3 qb/ rb combos in the country next year will be in Ia City with Tate / Young and THAT IS A FACT ....

Iowa has become known as "Offv Lineman" University for a simple reason: you go play under Ferentz you can play in the NFL

This is a great program ..... not in the Top 10 but certainly in the Top 20 and proud to be a Hawk supporter !!

Iowa is a couple seconds away from being 9-2 and only 1 loss in the big10. They certainly deserve to go to Tampa this year and anybody who watched the michigan-iowa game knows Iowa is the better team.

If you read my post, I said the past FOUR seasons!!

Having said that, IOWA is going to the OUTBACK BOWL and Michigan isn't.........so apparrently Iowa had a better year this year too in some peoples eyes.

Viking said it before...........the OUTBACK took Michigan over Iowa in 1997 and were rewarded with 16,000 empty seats.

The Florida-Iowa matchup is a goldmine for the OUTBACK.............EASY sellout...........and like two years ago, Iowa will probably out number Gator fans. A team that is ONLY 120 miles north of Tampa.

Just saw a report on local, Tampa, t.v. and the Outback Bowl Rep. was very happy with the match-up. And has been mentioned earlier, Iowa travels and with temps. in the teens for highs today and lows below zero, those Hawkeye fans want to party in the sun.

:dancefool :dancefool

And in response to CY1981's opinion that Iowa is the luckiest team, he's jealous because Iowa State is going to the legendary Houston Bowl. But when you can't sell out a stadium that barely holds 50,000, I don't think bowls expect the traveling fan base to be very large. In this day and age, fans sell as much as the record, when it comes down to choices.

C'mon fish... more corn field county fans than gators??? Not hardly. If this game sells out it's because of the gator nation, plain and simple.

You are so wrong........Iowa had just AS many fans as the Gators two years ago.

At the Orange Bowl three years ago..........55,000 Iowa fans attended the game.........and 80% of those were in the stadium parking lot by 1pm for the 8pm start!
