the Bears are actually under-rated.

I hang out with alot of big sports fans/ recreational bettors (Joe public) and they all say the same thing, that the Bears aren't that good. Defensive football is not fun to bet and their defensive is the best I can recall in over 15 years in NFL (since I have kept track of my own numbers). Their defense is the EQIVALENT to Indy's offense. I think the public still hasn't caught on to this. Can you imagine what a high powered NFL offenese would have been favored against the lowly Pack, guarantee more than td. I was a doubter and I'm still not sure how they would handle being down 10 or more in 4th quarter. But I think they are still not getting any respect.

A team that can't score offensively cannot really be under rated. They are pathetic offensively. Wait until they play a team that will force them to score (i.e. Indianapolis). They will get smashed.

Favre giving away TDs has become the norm. Without Favre, I am not sure Chicago wins that game yesterday.

Many of their wins have been that way...there was 1 or 2 plays in almost all of their wins where if they went another way, they would have lost. You look at teams like Indianapolis and there really isn't much doubt in any of their wins. They dominate teams.

The Bears are very overrated in my opinion. They have a great defense, there is no doubt about that. But that does not make them a great team.

While the Bears D is the best in the league, it's hard to compare them to the Indy offense because it's impossible for a D to generate those kind of points.

Unlike Manning, James, and Co, the Bears D HAS TO BE almost perfect on a weekly basis, or they are sure to lose.

That is amazing!!! I put that exact score in a Bears thread yesterday and deleted it. Someone said they thought Indy would be favored by 10. I put that I thought the final would be Indy 35-6.

That is my point. EVERYONE thinks they are lucky, haven't played anyone, etc, etc. When in reality their defense is so good I dont think people appreciate it. I guarantee you that Indy wouldn't score 30 on the Bears and I'm not saying Bears are going to super bowl ( because I beleive that ORTON will eventually lose a game for them). My argument is like the Pistons in hoops, this isn't pretty and the average Joe keeps thinking they are vulnerable but they are VERY GOOd team. Being in the Midwest we get stuck having to see alot of their games and this is the best defense I have seen in 15 years and that says alot to me.

I wouldve said the were not that good a few weeks ago, but I have since realized otherwise. Still, it would be totally different in the AFC. The bears will have no chance should they face indianapolis in Detroit. They don't have a passing game.

I don't think there is any comparison to Detroit in basketball...they are not inept in any facet of the game. The Bears truly are a TERRIBLE offensive football team. Great teams do not have major flaws...the Bears definitely have issues on offense.

To say that Indianapolis wouldn't score 30 on the Bears is off in my opinion. They score quickly and their DEFENSE is a top 5 defense in the NFL in my opinion. They would be getting their offense MANY scoring opportunities against Orton and the punchless Bears.

Scoring 30 pts or more in NFL game is about as tough as holding an opponent to 10 or under. Indy has scored 30 pts or more 7 times this year (and their schedule is not that impressive). Chicago's defense has held opponents to 10 or under 8 times. People just don't understand what they are seeing is something extrondinary. It seems to me that everyone thought Indy's offense couldn't be stopped before and this Bears defense is better than New England. Not syaing Chicago's going to Super Bowl but they won't get blown out in the playoffs by anyone because their defense is to good.

Seems no different to me than the 2000 Ravens. All defense....no offense. Somehow the Ravens went to the Super Bowl though!

Yeah, mabye the bears would keep indy to less points than they normally score, but the disparity between the indy offense and the bears offense is much greater than the defensive disparity. Now, if the game were in Chicago in Janurary in a snowstorm, then the bears might have a chance.

with that being said the Bears defense gets it's offense 10 pts a game minimum. Highly doubt Indy's dee is top 5 on NFl (Pittsburgh,Baltiomore, Chicago, Tampa Bay,Carolina and few others are way ahead of Indy on the defensive side of ball)

Have you looked at the Bears schedule? It might be the easiest schedule in the NFL:

@ Washington (lost 9-7)
Detroit (won 38-7)
Cincinnati (lost 24-7)
@ Cleveland (lost 20-10)
Minnesota (won 28-3)
Baltimore (won 10-6)
@ Detroit (won 19-13)
@ New Orleans (won 20-17)
SF (won 17-9)
Carolina (won 13-3)
@Tampa Bay (won 13-10)
Green Bay (won 19-7)

Upcoming games:
@ Pittsburgh
Atlanta
@ Green Bay

Their conference is a joke. They have beaten Detroit and Minnesota twice. They are barely getting by teams like New Orleans, Baltimore, SF...teams with a decent defense and an offense that doesn't give away points by turnovers will beat them.

Look at what Cincy did to them...even Washington just didn't give away points to them and beat them 9-7. They lost to THE BROWNS.

Their only impressive win was against Carolina.

Stick this team in the AFC and they might not be .500 this year.

why is it that you feel that their is a disparity because it doen't look as pretty. What Chicago's defense has done is every bit as impressive as what Indy's offense has done.

I'll take Indy's defense against almost all of those teams. Their stats won't match up simply because their offense scores in bunches and scores quickly. They don't play conservatively on offense. Their defense is on the field a lot more than the teams you mention.

Look at all 5 of those teams you say have a great defense and then look at their offenses...they are ALL conservative and try and win games with field position and not turning the ball over. That is not how Indy plays.

That's insane. Look at their schedule I just posted. They have played 1...yes 1 decent offensive team (Cincinnati). They gave up 24 points.
